I don't think anyone is underestimating Ashland after the way BS hung with the Birds last week. But let's just say Highlands is on a whole nother level compared to Dixie.

 

Highlands hung 55 on Dixie with the score at one point being 55-7 but when they pulled ALL their starters, Dixie left theirs in and tacked on 3 late scores to try and make the game look closer.

Let's see, I posted the following post which you believe is sandbagging:

That Ashland has the kind of program that is capable of beating us? I'm surprised that you don't have a higher regard for Ashland's program and tradition. If I was sandbagging as you have so brutally and viciously accused me of doing , it is only logical to conclude that you feel that I lied and that you obviously feel that Ashland doesn't have a fine football team, that they are not capable of beating us and that Ashland does not have the type of kids capable of beating us. Ashland has done much better than expected this year, They have overachieved. However, to expect them to win against Highlands particularly away from Putnam Stadium, is a pipe dream. Nonetheless, Ashland fans really do see the world of high school sports through maroon glasses so, as they would say, play the game and see what happens.

 

For me, I'm hoping for a Class 6A title match between T and X. That is big time football.

Seriously, the "problem" with these types of sites (no, I'm not criticizing BGP so I don't expect to get any blooming pm's from a moderator) is that posters don't often accurately type their thoughts. You meant most but didn't type that. I realized that you couldn't have meant every Highlands fan. Likewise some Highlands fans post some things that don't accurately portray their thoughts. And if a poster is "looking for something" its easy to take that inaccuracy and run with it.

 

You likewise need to realize that while there are some people that don't think Ashland can hang with Highlands, contrary to what you read on here most Highlands fans respect Ashland and well as other good teams from E. Ky. I think people from E. Ky overreact when they read something remotely critical of an E. Ky team and immediately over play the "disrespect" card and try to apply it to everyone in N. Ky. I don't know if that is an insecurity issue or just an attempt to motivate the E. Ky players. But the bottom line is that the people that matter the most, the Highlands players and coaches definitely respect the Ashland team and are not underestimating them at all. The Highlands players and coaches fully expect to win, but hey, they better expect to win every week regardless of whom they are playing, without exception.

 

I don't wish good luck to our opponents , but I do hope no player on either team gets hurt, both teams play up to their potential and every one has safe travels to and fro the game.

Well said!!! I'm not from either NKY or EKY (although my mother is from EKY...anybody here from MORGAN COUNTY?)...but this is such a tradition-laden game, it's hard NOT to have some interest in it. And I do know a young sophomore on the Ashland squad who used to play baseball with my son before he moved, so I'll be pulling for the T-Cats to pull a big upset...
