November 3, 200817 yr Who you got??? I say hands down Michael Crabtree is the best all around WR in college football. Good size, good speed, great hands, can go deep or across the middle, oh and he can make big plays too. Percy Harvin not too far behind Crab, but IMO Crabtree is hands down the best. So who do you have as tops, and who are some others you like? :thumb: You named my top two in 1.) Crabtree(TTU) (no doubt the best WR in college football) and 2.) P.Harvin (UF). I would also add Shipley (Texas) and Green (UGA) in the mix as well but imo Crabtree and Harvin are 1 and 2.

November 3, 200817 yr I also like Crabtree but have only seen the one game. Julio has great hands and hasn't had many drops this season. We also run a completely different offense than Tech so he doesn't get as many looks as Crabtree.
November 3, 200817 yr Yes, Mr. Crabs is the best. He's big, he's fast, he's the total package. Period. Dez Bryant as mentioned, is the real deal as well. Arrelliues(SP.?) Benne will be a beast in the pros once he has an accurate qb (Sorry Juice). Maclin is tough as well. Harvin is more of a hybrid. He's really his own position, as is Maclin to some extent. Julio Jones and AJ Green are gonna be great as well. But today, give me Crabtree. And that was the case before yesterdays game.

Had he not made that catch we wouldn't be having this discussion. He's a good player and a really good WR but he isn't the best, and stat wise he isn't even the best in his conference. I like the WR's from Oklahoma St. and Percy Harvin. After seeing him on tv 3 times last year, I thought he was the best wide receiver in the country last season, let alone this season.

November 3, 200817 yr Top 5 IMO.. 1. Michael Crabtree - Tex. Tech 2. Dez Bryant - OK. State 3. Jeremy Maclin - Missouri 4. A.J Green - UGA 5. Eric Decker - Minnesota/Percy Harvin - UF Texas Tech is loaded with WR's, Crabtree, Lewis, Morris, and Britton are all play makers.. That looks pretty accurate. Aside from Crabtree I am a big Jeremy Maclin fan as well. Crabtree has got to be #1. AJ Green is probably the best pro prospect of the group down the road though.

If you want to widen the scope and to "all around football player", then maybe you get guys like Harvin and Maclin in the discussion with their versatility (kick returning, rushing ability). But, if you just want a guy to line up at WR when your offense has the ball, Crabtree is hands down the best in college football. I'll even go a step further. I think Michael Crabtree may very well be the best football player in college football relative to his position. He'll be the first WR selected when he enters the NFL draft and I'll be surprised if he isn't a top 10 pick. Great, great player that looks like he's NFL ready right now. That's what impresses me. He's not just a "system" player. Obviously, his numbers benefit from playing in Tech's pass happy offense, but the guy is an absolute stud. He's going to post great numbers in any offense that throws the ball a little and has a QB that can get it to him. I've been hugely impressed with what I've seen from him...he, along with Calvin Johnson a couple years ago, is the best WR prospect in college since Randy Moss, IMO.
