This is the kind of failed logic that honestly turns me off to some in my own party. I personally can't stand Obama and will not vote for him under any circumstances, but I am not naive enough to think that my Christianity is what keeps me from voting for him. Jesus state in the bible that how you treat the least of men is how you treat him. I will say this for Obama and the democrats they have a firm grasp on helping the poor. That is also one of the biggest short comings of the Democrat party is how have forgotten what Christian principles they represent.

 

A friend once told me that the "Religious Right" only care about the baby until it is born then they want no part of taking care of it, and to some extent that is true. So I do believe it is absurd to say I can't vote for Obama because I'm a Christian. Obama and his party to represent many Christian values, just not the ones certain Christian's want to talk about when telling who they are voting for, they only want to bring up the ones where Obama doesn't go along with the bible.

So will you vote for a candidate that isn't Jesus? Because frankly no human being on this Earth is likely to be following the Bible 100% and if there are any that do then the odds are good that they won't be in politics as they would have found something more constructive to do out f faitha and love for humanity.

I don't know the first thing about politics, but as a person who tries to follow Jesus, I would never vote for someone who supports things he wouldnt accept.

First of all I am not starting this thread to be mean spirited, hateful, or to stir anything up. I have been burdened by the poll results of this election. If they are accurate then many Christians will be pulling the lever for Obama. I would like them to honestly answer the following questions . . .

 

1. How can you as a Christian vote for a candidate who is not only FOR abortion but infanticide?

 

2. How can you as a Christian vote for a candidate whose policies clearly denegrate the family system in promoting the Gay and Lesbian agenda (not just tolerating their lifestyle but endorsing it) and giving them "special rights" above and beyond what they already have as citizens?

 

3. How can you as a Christian vote for a candidate who is against protecting the "Man-Woman" Marriage on the ballot?

 

4. How can you as a Christian vote for a candidate who supports adoption of children by homosexuals?

 

5. How can you as a Christian vote for a candidate who supports Partial Birth abortion? Where nearly completing born live infants are stabbed in the back of the head and their brains are vacuumed out? HORRIBLE!!!

 

I have heard all the arguments about this including "I don't vote single issue" "Roe v. Wade" will not be overturned, etc. etc.

 

On the homosexual issue "what does that have to do with me?" "I don't care what others do in private" etc. etc.

 

But the underlying precept is that you, as a Christian, are backing a man who goes against the Word of God ---the very Word of God that you say you believe and practice. I have come to the conclusion that many Christians are nominal only professioning to believe but not posessing the Spirit of God. If you do not have enough spirtual discernment as a Christian to see that this man is directly opposed to our fundamental Christian values, I am concerned that maybe you have been deceived.

 

Once again, please take the time to examine your heart . . . this election is about much more than money in our pockets, less taxes, more entitlements, etc. it is about the very fabric of our Nation as designed by our forefathers. It could fashion our society for ruin if we do not honor the One who created it and who has blessed us for over 200 years. It is an extremely serious matter. Please consider the dire ramifications.

 

I will continue to intercede for our Nation and for the intervention of our Precious Lord and Savior to turn the hearts of His own and protect us from the enemies of our Faith and practice.

I don't understand your logic. I will not vote for a man that is dead set on keeping abortion legal and that wants to do away with any laws that restrict abortion. No, the candidate doesn't have to be Jesus, he or she only needs to know that abortion is against God. It's that simple. God will not, and according to His word, cannot, bless a nation that continues down that path.

We, as Christians, are to vote for the candidate that most exemplifies Christian values . . . any candidate who is pro-abortion, supports a bill on infanticide, and refuses to vote for a ban on partial birth abortion does not exemplify Christian values. This is why you are such a well respected poster, Hatz. You are willing to look at both sides of issues and try to observe them from multiple perspectives.

You need to read the Word of God and Obama needs to go back to his Rev J.Wright and stop claiming to be a Christian.

 

You need to go back and read the scripture and stop claiming to know a man's heart and who God has saved or not. You do not have a monopoly on the truth and your version/interpretation of the Bible is offensive to me as a Christian. Acemona, I only want people to understand their sin, that we all have sinned, and that we all have offended a Holy God, and according to the Word of God, "He is angry with the wicked everyday." No one will ever be saved or even have a desire to know what salvation is until they first understand their sin. Jesus said He came to save sinners and that the whole need not a physcian, but those that are sick. If the Bible calls a paticular act a sin we should take sides with the Bible against ourselves. We sin because we are sinners, we are not sinners because we sin. Our very nature is sin. There is only one cure for our sin, only one way to have our sin forgiven, only one way to be reconciled to God, only one way to escape the eternal fires of hell, only one way to have a personal relationship with God. That way is through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, how that He died for our sins, was buried, and arose again the third day. Only by the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ can hell deserving sinners have their sins taken away and forgiven. The Word says that God commands all men everywhere to repent, or to turn from their sinful ways, turn from their own way, forsake their sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. The one that has the Son has life and that life will cause a person to have a new perspective on this life and the life to come. Those that refuse to repent will perish. This is not my opinion but what Jesus said.

 

The Lord saved me at a very early age and I am thankful for that fact. He, in a sense, saved my life as I desired to draw closer to him and avoid the typical temptations a young person faces. I am not perfect, was not perfect and will never be perfect and without Jesus I can do nothing. My husband was saved later in his twenties and had spent his teen years in sin and apart from God. I have asked him to share his testimony with those who would be interested.

 

"When I was 15 years of age I got into trouble and as a result I was filled with guilt, I had a sense of shame because I had so disappointed my parents. This led me to embrace religion and make a profession of faith. I was baptized and joined a church and called myself a Christian. The only problem with all of it was the fact that I never had a sense of godly sorrow, I was simply sorry I got caught, I had a worldly sorrow. This only led to a false sense of security but it did not led to a changed life---- I continued my sinful ways, drunkenness, drugs, fornication, stealing, etc. I found myself in and out of jail numerous times,and facing court appointed drug counsellors. I was ordered by a judge, in Lexington, Ky., to attend AA and seek counseling from a pyschiastrist or leave the city, I chose to leave the city. I continued a life of self destruction and became suicidal. I considered taking my life several times, but I just could not find the guts to do it. When I was 26 years old I finally came to the place where I realized that I had sinned against God and I was in real danger of perishing in my sins. I was filled with guilt and so convicted of the life I had been living. It started bothering me when I would take God's name in vain, I started feeling out of place when I would go to parties, etc. but I still could not find relief. I was so miserable. At last someone shared with me the precious Gospel of Jesus Christ, I was shown from the Bible that Jesus died for all my sins and that if I would trust Him I could be forgiven and have Gods favor restored. That day I repented of my sins and trusted Christ as my Savior and He changed my life. I am far from perfect but He worked godly sorrow in my heart and caused me to want to turn to Him. I praise God for His mercy and love. I am not what I used to be and am not yet what I want to be. If I could stop sinning I would stop altogether and never sin again but that is not possible here on this earth. One day in heaven it will be. I hope this will help someone. God Bless."

 

So you see, we do love souls, we do care about the state of our country . . . but more than anything people need to realize that they are sinners and in need of a Savior. This is more important than any political decision any of us will ever make.

In the end, any answers I give will be dismissed. I believe the issues you outline are religious in nature, and I will expend my efforts through my Church and community to effect reform on those areas. When choosing a President, there are many more issues that affect the country as a whole from which to pick and choose.

 

Well, as a Christian I am compelled to let my religious views, and morals dictate my political decisions...because at the end of everything with my beliefs that IS #1....
