October 17, 200817 yr The holding back of kids for sports has gotten ridiculous. If a student in public school repeats a grade for sports the parents should pay tuition. (Not the taxpayers). AAU should do away with grade exceptions. IMO. I am certainly not threadjacking and I have my own opinions on this but in some cases kids are not mature enough and need to be held back. In many of those cases they typically end up being very good athletes.

October 19, 200817 yr Sport of all Sorts is having a one game "Preview" this coming Sunday Oct. 25 All you pay is ref fees of $25. You do not have to be part of the league to play in this preview.
October 20, 200817 yr AFI asked a similar question earlier - who will be the top 5 teams in each age group across the state this year. The 8th grade division has always been very competitive from the time they were 3rd graders. The 7th grade division has typically been owned by the CKY Warriors with the Tarheels being 2nd, but with the emergence of KY Elite and a certain NKY team adding some quality players, what will happen in that age group? Where will #23 from the Tarheels play if the Tarheels do not field a 7th grade squad? I'm interested to hear everyone's take on this and other age divisions across the state.:dancingpa
October 20, 200817 yr 8th Grade- Kentucky Elite looks to be the team to beat here as well. The Ville still should be extremely good and Hoop Dreams will be competitive in this age group. 7th grade is a real unknown. The leftovers from the Warriors and Tarheels should make this a 3 team affair (with Kentucky Elite) with talk about a new southern Kentucky team and another new northern Kentucky team also being in the mix. 6th grade- Their is no dominate team, The Ville is a little better than the Legends and a couple of other teams. The Kentucky Elite from southcentral Kentucky will have a chance to be the best if they can land a big man or two.

Defending DII champions (NKY Wolfpack) will most likely stay DII but will be as strong as ever with their two new big men. I will give the nod to the NKY Wildcats in the 4th grade. There is a team from Somerset that I believe is pretty good as well.
October 21, 200817 yr Will there be a Division I and II for 4th grade? Possibly. Depends on how many teams go D1. Last year there was a D1 bracket at the state tournament for the 4th grade.
October 21, 200817 yr In the 6th grade the Kentucky Elite team which finished runner-up in the USSSA Nationals last season will be playing AAU and USSSA this season and should be a serious AAU DI state contender. The team is not affiliated in any way with the new team being formed, called the Ketucky Elite which has an 8th grade team. Hatton will probably be playing HS ball from everything I've heard, but if anyone who works with the other's mom wants to let her know that the NKY team - I'm sure can find a spot for a quality player like Avery.
