St. Xavier 30 Trinity 6

31 point swing? WE have some adjusting to do, but for all the bad, I saw a lot of positives to build upon...We'll be fine.

I agree. If Phillips doesn't take the 29 yard loss, Trinity outgains X. 10-6 in the third-and then the turnovers changed the game. Carrico is a nice target, especially on the Tight end screen. I think 24-38 278 is a solid game for QB Smyth.

As to X, I thought the slants would work against the always blitzing LB's and they did. Deuce and Neal had nice holes to run through-Kudos to Baisch and company. Not sure what happened on the Botner drop but he was being examined by the doctors for a concussion type injury.

Good job but we have to do it again.

I have never posted in any of the X or T threads but pay attention to what these two elite programs accomplish. Both are obviously the cream of Kentucky HS football but I have to say I was shocked when I read about this score.

Congrats to X…and good luck to both teams the rest of this year. I’m sure this match up will be in the headlines again before this season is finished

I was in Elizabethtown and the announcer said it was 10-0 X late in the 3rd. What happened in the 4th quarter for X to pull away?

Congrats to X. You played an outstanding game :thumb:

I like others want to see what happens in December. I will say that Smyth is an outstanding athlete. Was impressed to see the final numbers he put up when the score wouldn't seem to reflect.

Coach Nichols? Seriously though, it's interesting that you used that phrase. Is that primarily due to what X did or what T did to themselves?

Don't put him in the same line as Nichols. He did give credit to X in his post. T did shoot themselves in the foot as well as X did play an outstanding game.

First off, Congrats to X on an amazing victory on a team that you were supposed to score very little if at all on.

Secondly, I wanted to commend Cameron Smyth. I had yet to seem him play this season and was impressed with his amount of toughness and ability to throw the ball. X's DEs made several huge hits (granted one was roughing the passer) and he took several more big shots the rest of the game and was immediately up on his feet after every one. What is the story on his ankle because he had an obvious limp by the end of the game? Overall, excellent game for him.

Congrats to the Banana's of X!

Fantastic execution by X. The Tigers looked solid on both sides of the ball. I'll forgive Deuce for this little transgression in exchange for a letter of intent to play for the University of Louisville. :D

2 tough, good running backs (No single back to load up on) and a passing game that you can turn to. Block hard, Run tough, stop the run. Oh yeah - and pass the ball. Duece is only going to get better and as he does, the passing game opens up. Throw in good receivers and a good line. Most will gamble on Defense given the pass / run combination. O-Line picks it up and we score a lot. Defense playing awesome. Stay on your reponsibilities and finish. Great season. Work in those underclassmen. Finish. What an opportunity!

I foresee Stanford in his future.

Boston College came to watch practice Wednesday..how did that turn out? Deuce would look good in Blue and White also.

Great win for the Tigers. I thought #56 or 65 played great at d-line. Little confused why Trinity didn't run more cat. The wide splits were killing the Rocks on the inside.

I thought the offense played better than expected and the defense was a disappointment. Much of that is directly related to X's outstanding offensive performance. X out hit Trinity and was the tougher team.

X played a very sound game. One penalty the entire game and zero turnovers. Trinity did not. Nine penalties and three turnovers.

You know Trinity lost by 24 points this year, 15 more than they did last year, but for some unknown reason, I feel more confident about Trinity's chances if these teams meet again. Perhaps that is an aberrant feeling, but we shall see.

Bean doesn't run CAT......the only Rocks that have run CAT since Terry arrived was our 2004 frosh Rocks/

I left the game, not all that disappointed, you can't expect to win, when that many mistakes are made. If Trinity gets their guys healthy, and makes less mistakes, we can play with them.....
The State games are pretty much set in stone also. Are you telling me you can't remember the State game is the second week or maybe the first week in December? I've been planning my life around the 1st and 2nd week of December for the last 25 years just in case.:creepy::D

That's if you don't lose earlier in the playoffs. That's what I mean by guaranteed. As hard as it is to believe, X and T aren't guaranteed their spot in the finals. They have to win a few games to get there.

I have to have next years vacations in by the end of this month. If I lived out of town, I would know for a fact they will face each other during the season next year, not so much in the playoffs.
