  1. District pairings are set for next week and one of the biggest district games (according to Louisville Courier-Journal) is the Manual/X game at Male. This one was a tight contest first time around with Manual winning 70-68. I would say atleast half of X's losses have come on last second shots this season. The ones that stick out being Ballard, Fern Creek, Moore, and Manual. Does X have what it takes to pull out the big one when it counts and send Manual home early? What does everyone think about this match-up? What are the keys for both teams?
  2. St. X has a very nice team, they just need to find a way to get over the hump in big games. They may be one of the more underrated teams in the region. Hopefully as things continue they can find a way to win late in ball games. Good Luck Tigers!
  3. After watching a lot of X basketball the past several years and watching this team so far this year, I would say that X is often overlooked and not considered competitive given their region. No X is never going to be a 7th region favorite over teams such as Ballard, Manual, Eastern, Male, Trinity, and so on, but they can very much be a darkhorse that can spoil a season for a big team. I think this 08-09 team will surprise a lot of people this year, probably winning games that shouldn't be close. You can't get lazy on this tiger squad, they may be the scrappiest bunch to roam the halls of a poplar level school. X also tends to play very well in this tournament, I know they upset LexCath in front of a sell-out crowd 2 years ago. Look for Monday night to be interesting. Also, What kind of squads does Madisonville and LCA have? I saw Madisonvilles record, but I have a feeling that their record doesn't reflect the quality of their team. I know they played in the KOB tourney as well. Go TIGERS!!
  4. As much as I would love to see this and as much as X's offense has demolished everyone that has stood in their way, I just can't see X doing this to a rock team twice in one season. Bean is a great coordinator and win or lose the rocks will be much better prepared for the Tigers in this go-round. Both of these teams would put a running clock on ANYONE in the lower bracket.:fire::fire:
  5. This seems to be the most focused Tiger team in a while. If they stay focused with the game at hand and take this one step at a time, then I don't think there is anyone that can stand in their way. I think they have come up short in years past and are now much more focused (atleast based on their margin of victories). I look for this to be the year of the Tigers.
  6. Does anyone have the final 6A bracket or know where to find it? I know the C-J had one in there a couple weeks ago? What do the first round match-ups look like? ITS PLAYOFF TIME IN THE BLUEGRASS!!:ylsuper::ylsuper:
  7. St. X doesn't operate like that in general. In my 4 years there we were never in the business of running the score up on people. It does no good to run the score up on teams and make them feel more degraded then they may already feel. Give a lot of teams credit, they line up against teams like X, Trinity, and HHS week in and week out knowing they don't have a chance to win. But yet they fight for 4 quarters never giving up, there is no reason to disrespect them and drive them into the ground. That is not classy in the slightest. I have no respect for people that run the score up and attempt to disrespect kids that are giving their whole heart and soul to their team. On that note, Go Tigers, keep up the good work:thumb:
  8. I predict a running clock at some point in the 3rd quarter. X 56 CCH7
  9. I am not saying that this will be a close game, I agree that X has too much depth for Central to stay around for 4 quarters, but look for Central to come out and punch X in the mouth early. Central is always a physical team that loves to hit people. They will come out swinging in this game and punch X early, but in the end X will be too much. X 34 Central 10
  10. Agreed!!:thumb: Ill take X 34 Bengals 10:lol:
  11. I know National Polls don't mean a whole lot, but X has run through KY pretty well this year and has been firing on all cylinders. How would this year's St. X squad match-up against the Cincinnatti, Tennessee, and other regional powers?
  12. I think rain, snow, sleet, hot, cold, dark or light St. X has the advantage in this game. However, since the forecast is calling for a good amount of rain tomorrow night, what kind of ground game does PRP have and will it be effective against X's stingy defense? Does PRP run the Wing-T offense, I could be wrong but it seems like in years past they have. Good luck Tigers and hope that neither team has any serious injuries in the nasty weather.
  13. Can someone send the link to the ESPN poll, I can't seem to find it. Has it moved since last year on their website?
  14. I do, but I am talking up to that point. I don't think anyone in the regular season can keep it close to X. How would the playoff picture shape up prior to an X vs T rematch?
  15. With 4 games remaining in the regular season, can anyone challenge St. X? They are @Butler, @PRP, vs Central, and @ Covington Catholic. I know Central has a good team and PRP is supposed to be decent, but do either one have enough offensive fire power to put up points on the stingy X defense? And is there a defense stronger than Trinity's that can stop a high powered X offense? I really feel like Trinity is going to be the best team X will face during the regular season. So the question is if X stays focused and doesn't lose sight of the prize, is there anyone that will challenge them the rest of the way?
  16. First off, Congrats to X on an amazing victory on a team that you were supposed to score very little if at all on. Secondly, I wanted to commend Cameron Smyth. I had yet to seem him play this season and was impressed with his amount of toughness and ability to throw the ball. X's DEs made several huge hits (granted one was roughing the passer) and he took several more big shots the rest of the game and was immediately up on his feet after every one. What is the story on his ankle because he had an obvious limp by the end of the game? Overall, excellent game for him. Congrats to the Banana's of X!
  17. 11 hours 6 minutes to kickoff. but who is counting:ylsuper::dancingpa
  18. I would love to see the Tigers put up another big number this year and hold the Rocks to a smaller one.
  19. Ok, so I have heard how much more balanced Xs offense is year and that they do have some passing attack. They have a good set of backs in Neal and Finch and a solid quarterback in Brutscher. So far they have put up huge numbers, even though they have yet to be tested. I dont know much about Trinity except that they crushed Eastern and knocked off a very solid Cincy X and BG teams. What about Trinity's defense? Can anyone give me a breakdown about Trinity's O and D? What are the keys to this game for both teams? I am X grad and huge supporter of the school. This is the one event that I look forward to every year. WHile I always want X to win, I love to see the level of football and the tradition of both programs. The class of the schools and excitement of 38k at PJCS for a high school game will send chills up your spine. People who no nothing about football in KY have heard of this game and want to see it in person, I have been told several times. Good luck to both teams and can't wait for this fall classic on Friday night.
  20. I have yet to see X play, but it sounds as if Brutscher has really given the Tigers a more balanced attack. If so, this would definitely be moving away from the classic Mike Glaser style of offense. If the Tigers have the ability to have a strong passing attack, it makes them all the more dangerous. As for this game, I don't know much about Manual, but after reading other comments it sounds like they may not be as strong as last years squad. Either way with the way Xs offense is operating I look for them to put up a big number. What is Xs points earned vs. points allowed so far? It seems like it would be impressive.
  21. I have yet to see X play this season, but from what I can see so far it looks like they are rolling full steam ahead and are not showing any signs of letting up. I know Male lost to a very good Central team last friday night. Does Male have the firepower and the ability to stay with X all the way til the end this friday night or will X be too much for them to handle? Like I said, I have yet to see either one of the teams play. I'm just wondering what others think who may have been to the games?
  22. First of all, I think its crap that you are even saying that, and that is a total slap in the face too CAL. Maybe you weren't at the game, but CAL came out and swung the bat, played defense, and pitched well. St. X came out swung the bat fairly well, played defense and with the exception of one inning pitched well. St. X made one error that did not cost them anything. I don't know about the Trinity game as far as defense, but Trinity swung the bat well. They had a ton of hard hit balls, just so happens they hit a lot right at people. CAL is not this little league team that you or anyone else thinks they are. Beating 2 powerhouse teams on two consecutive nights and making it though the 7th region is not a fluke. In a best of 3 series with CAL against X or the Rocks, I would say X/T would win most of the time. But that is the glory of one and done, its anyone's tournament. Your comment is definitely an insult to CAL, X, and Trinity. Good luck to CAL, I look forward to seeing you in Lexington.
  23. This was heck of a game, and all of the credit in the world goes to CAL. They exploded for 6 runs in one inning and that was all it took. X tried to battle back but it was too little, too late. After watching CAL play this week in 3 games, they are not the team people thought they were. They are the real deal, they hit the ball and play great defense. If their pitching holds up, I look for them to make it to Applebee's. With that said, X has nothing to hang their heads about. Staying in the top 5 in the state for most of the season, being the runner-up in the toughest region in the state by far, and finishing with a 33-6 record is impressive. This X senior class has been arguably the best group of seniors for baseball in several years. Finishing undefeated as freshman, losing only 4 or 5 as JVs and 6 this year. The majority of them didn't play regularly as juniors. But to combine for roughly a 75-10 record over their careers is impressive. Nothing to hang your heads about, you played a heck of a game. Great job Tigers!! Keep on rolling CAL, represent the 7th region well!
  24. I think X needs to come out and jump on CAL early. A lot of it depends on which X line-up shows up, it seem all year they either get a couple hits or a ton of hits. I think if X is agressive at the plate in the early going and can jump on CAL from the start and hopefully rattle them then they will have a good chance to win their 2nd regional championship in 3 yrs. Even though X has one many games in the last couple of at bats this season and they are one of the best teams around at manufacturing 1 or 2 runs in the last inning, I think the longer X lets CAL hang around, the more the advantage to CAL. Should be an exciting game with a lots of offense. A lot of people didn't give CAL a chance to be here, but they have slain one giant and will look to do it again tonight.
  25. I'll agree that the officiating wasn't great and the strike zone changed from one inning to the next. I didn't know the Shutt hit Deeds in the face, whether it was intentional or not, in a game of that magnitude with so much on the line you have to keep your composure to help your team. Granted he wasn't called out and there was a replacement, but that does take some of the wind out of your sails. I didn't say that because I was an X fan, I would have said that had X, Trinity, CAL or anyone else done it. I am an X fan, but I am also all about exciting baseball played the right way. I think you should protect yourself, but in a game like that you have to think of whats best for your team. Great job by the ROCKS this season!
