St. Xavier 30 Trinity 6

Congrats to the Tigers. Knew you had your best team in quite some time - and said so on here. We had hoped to be "competitive" - but were not.

Now - it is back to work.

NIce win - Congrats again.

X played excellent, and Trinity shot themselves in the foot on several occasions.

Trinity better fix the defense if it wants to win #19. I thought at times the defensive schemes were unsound. I mean I have never even seen the worst grade school coaching come up with some of the things Trinity does, like leaving the entire middle of the field without a LB or taking the OLB 25 yards from the ball to cover a WR. If Trinity can't stop the run then it will not win in the rematch. Combination of poor schemes and poor tackling made for a bad defensive performance. I thought Cam Smyth played very well with what he had to work with. Too many penalties and mistakes on the OL, all of which will be corrected. The defense just left me wondering if #19 is possible.

Awesome win Tigers, I had a very, very good perspective on a lot of what was going on. X beat us physically which doesn't happen often....it was a hard fought game for a good while, but then we just kept shooting ourselves in the foot, thus the snowball effect. Again, St. Xavier great job, you deserve the #1 ranking, and I hope to see you in the Pizza Box in December, for the semi's...

Coach Nichols? Seriously though, it's interesting that you used that phrase. Is that primarily due to what X did or what T did to themselves?

How many people in attendance.

A new record of 38,872.

Well from watching very close, we moved the ball quite well, particularly in the second quarter and had some HUGE penalities, and a killer TO....add to that the other TO's in the second half, and this thing got out of hand. St. Xavier clearly was the better team, which many of us suspected before the game. I think we have many, many things that can be improved upon from this game, X, not so much. I also hope that we are healthy if we are fortunate enough to play them again.

You can't put 11 in the box when a team can pass the ball. You can't rob Peter to pay Paul. X is finally getting it.

Nice win. On to next week.

Nice pick by #2 ;)

You just said just about everything I wanted to say. As a former Trinity defensive player I am sick of the same bad play year in and year out against X, then everyone using the excuss that the O will get better and we will out score them in the playoffs. Hey we have the kids on the D side to shut down a power running team but the coach has to put them (players)in a positon to make plays. Bad coaching tonight really bad.:mad::mad:

No but if you do nothing at all it sure does make it easier for the other team. X had a nice O game plan but it could have been defended much much better. I will just say T has a long way to go.

Interesting to note, that T, Team 2000, has been outscored by the Tigers this decade 220-181 thus far. I'll be the first to say we haven't gotten it done when it REALLY counted, but I thought this was interesting.

I thought the play by Daylen Hall on the Trinity TD was a stop...but the refs said TD!
