OU is not a shoe in if one of the SEC teams goes undefeated. Why you ask? The SEC is "clearly" the best conference.

 

I don't think that matters. OU is clearly (imo) better than any SEC team. If OU goes undefeated, no one will jump them. It would be a crime if they do.

Another thing to take into consideration is the margin of victory. If a team constantly blows out other teams then they'll jump teams that play a lot of closer games.

Understood. But is the Big XII (this season) that much different? You have Oklahoma and Missouri who would be considered legitimate title contenders. Texas, Texas Tech and Kansas are potential BCS bowl teams. Colorado, Kansas State, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are probably bowl teams. That only leaves Baylor and Iowa State. I understand your point, but I'm not sure the SEC (this season) is as tough as the Big XII.

 

And as stated earlier, USC is the best team in the country.

Considering the past two National Chmps were 2 loss representatives from the SEC

I can see what your saying but I don't believe thats it is a good measuring point of a team for a National Championship Team. I think this would put quantity over quality. There are no team in the SEC gonna blow out every other team in the SEC, too much quality in the teams night in and night out. USC beat Ohio St to death and top 5 teams in the SEC would/could do the same thing or close to Ohio St. Just because they beat Ohio St to death doesn't make them a great team, teams such as Georgia, Florida, LSU, Alabama or Auburn would beat Ohio St. Not all would beat them as bad or look as dominant but a W is a W.

I disagree, I believe the best team has won the National Title every year.

 

How do we truly know that was the best team with the current system we have. The current system we have basically just takes a guess at which 2 teams they THINK are the best two teams. So the team who wins it all might not really be the best team, but just happened to play a great game to pull off the championship. In a playoff system, there is a better chance that the best team really will win it all, because they would have to have 3 great games in a row against top competition to pull it off.

We had an undefeated SEC team, yet they didn't even get a chance to play for the title. Your suppose to win all your games and that is what they did, but yet they didn't have a chance to be crowned the best.

I agree with most. If USC, and OU both run the table, I don't see anyone jumping them.

 

:thumb: That is the way that I feel as well. I will say that an undefeated SEC team will have a shot, they would certainly be legit but I don't think so if OU and USC win out.

 

One thing would be "IF" this scenerio were to happen (undefeated SEC,Big12, Pac10) team go unbeaten it would be fun watching the BCS squirm once again.

 

Not so much the Pac10 bc imo USC is the only really top tier team in that conference. The SEC and Big12 have a few in each.

That (what was done to Auburn) that year was a travesty, no reason could ever be given to me that would explain that. JMO

I think that depends on how good you think the teams OU has beaten are. Washington is something real awful, and UC is not very good IMO.
