Very tough question though. Either way someone would be getting screwed.

I go with USC just by looking at the conferences. They faced a banged up (and overrated IMO) Ohio State game. Big deal.

 

If a team goes undefeated in the SEC look at their competition. Georgia, Florida,, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, LSU, UK ;-) ha jk on the last one

 

If a team goes undefeated in the Big 12, they face the likes of Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, etc.

 

USC faces Washington, UCLA, Stanford, etc.

There is absolutely no chance USC is not in the title game if they stay undefeated...

I would think Big 12 would get left out. If USC and Georgia go Undefeated my guess is they are in. Georgia's SOS will get them in. The only way USC is out is if the rest of their conference stinks the place up and hurt's USC's SOS, but I think USC would be #1 in both polls, so I would say they're in.

Anyone going undefeated in the Big 12 or SEC deserve to be in. They would all have a tougher road than USC but its hard to not have them in either.

Considering the past two National Chmps were 2 loss representatives from the SEC, if a team goes undefeated they HAVE TO BE in the title game.

 

USC has been domiannt in their BCS games the past two seasons, and that deserves the merit of a Championship birth.

 

On the contrary to that I think the Big 12 representative gets left out based on Oklahoma's past two BCS games as that conferences representative. Losing to WVU ina route and losing to a non-BCS Boise State prior to that means that the Big 12 gets shut out.

If USC goes undefeated they will be playing for a title, period. If UF or UGA go undefeated as well as Oklahoma I would have to say that it would be a Pac-10/SEC title match-up based on the polls and sos. I don't see OU being able to stay ahead of an SEC team if they go undefeated. Right now I'm predicting a USC/OU title game.

If you go by schedule it would have to be USC. The PAC10 is pretty weak this year and OSU seemed a bit overrated. That said I still think USC is the best team in the country and would like to seem them against the SEC champ.

USC is a lock if they go 12-0. I don't know if anyone will go unbeaten in the Big 12. OU has the best chance but there are some good teams in that conference. It should come down between the winner of the SEC and then USC.

The safest answer as to who gets left out is whoever was ranked #3 in the BCS before the last week of the season. That might not be the fair answer, but it's the way it would play out. Exactly the same situation happened with Auburn a few years ago.

So most would agree that if USC goes undefeated & a team from the SEC goes undefeated, those 2 teams should be in the title game?

Why does the conference matter? If the winner of the Big XII and Pac-10 (or any other conference for that matter) is better than the SEC winner, even if the SEC winner is undefeated, why should the SEC team automatically go to the BCS championship?
