Harlan County vs. Fleming County Sept. 13

Featured Replies

I think the trip for the Bears put them at a 14 point disadvantage right from the get-go! Thats a long time to be on a bus. I still think that trip was the biggest single factor last year for Cawood in their win against Fleming. Turn about is fair play and the Bears will have to play through fatigue among other things. This one will not be easy!

Not only is the 4-hour bus ride going to be tough to overcome, but when you are talking about (most) high school players, playing on Saturday means staying up late Friday night.

The Black Bears are in the 2nd year of a two year scheduling plan which is how it is done (By KHSAA) They chose Cawood's 3A schedule because Evarts and Cumberland were 1A schools. Next year they will be a 5A in a district with Letcher Central, Perry Central, Clay County, and North or South Laurel and I may have left someone out. Go Bears

Finally some clarity. I had asked that question a while back. Thanks Rico.:thumb:

Yes you did.

Fleming asked to move from District 7 to District 6 because, according to the KHSAA responses, "primarily because they already schedule Breathitt, Estill and Powell."

I think Magoffin was in District 6 in the original plan.

I know we asked to be in the district with Breathitt. I was talking about our move next year.

I know Fleming County will be glad to get home for a game after dropping the last two on the road , especially last week at Rowan County they were really expecting to win that one. If I`m not mistaken this will be the third week in a

row on the road for Harlan County. Fleming lost to Harrison who got beat pretty bad by GRC then lost to Rowan last week . They were really optimistic about the season at the EKC Grid a few weeks ago,had a few games already won last week was one of them. Good luck to both teams :thumb:

Yes this is Harlan County's 3rd road game in a stretch of 5 straight road games. Not playing at home until September 26th.

I just looked at The Litrating and they have DaBears at #5.

Last I heard LCC 20 HC 16

Grilled Panther huh, sounds like a plan to me.:dancingpaGO BLACK BEARS:dancingpa I say we should caravan there, leave around, say 12ish.

Bears by 14, even with their 4 hour drive.

How did the freshman game with LCC go?

Harlan lost 20-14. Letcher's freshmen are so big, you would think they were older, but I saw the kids play in middle school last year. Harlan lost arguably their best back in the second quarter, and that really hurt!

LCC starts about 3 freshmen on varsity so they are very good. Marcus was the TB that got hurt. Fumbling inside the 4 yard line while going in for a score hurt the Bears as well.

What happened to Marcus?

I know he has had an ankle injury bothering him for a couple weeks; was it the ankle or something new?
