January 23, 200917 yr From the games I have attended, several of the SVMS and TMS players could definitely compete for minutes on that SK freshman team. Not sure if they are ready for JV this year, but could compete with alot of freshman.

January 23, 200917 yr In my opinion for the 8th grade: 1. Summit View, Holmes or Twenhofel- depending on who is healthy and who wants it the most that particular night. 2. Everybody else- Highlands. In the 7th grade- Walton and Conner looked awfully good.

January 23, 200917 yr It would be nice to see some of these 8th graders play JV next season as Freshman. Why? Because it seems to be a talented class and I would hate to see some kids not make it their Freshman year and give up on the game. Also, because the talent level of the current Freshman and this years 7th grade teams is lacking. That's not to say those two classes won't improve but it seems as though the talent (current 8th grade teams SVM & Twen.) is sandwiched between them and can be utilized for the 4 years to come. Time will tell. Good luck to all of the boys.... Heard the Freshman aren't doing that well anyway, so I'm kinda surprised myself. Not sure of their record, but one of my sons told me that they're doing about the same as the Freshman football team, and that wasn't too well.

I think they are 6th or 7th in the NKAC 8th grade league. #1 in the NKAC is Tichenor, then Conner, Jones, and Camp Ernst. Conner and Jones I think both have 3 losses in the league and will be playing next week, which should be a good game. Grant County is the only team in the NKAC to beat Tichenor so they are in the mix of things in this league. Camp Ernst lost some games due to injuries, but once they are healthy they will be a tough team to beat.

They have a nice ballclub but I wasn't overly impressed. They have beaten Highlands twice, but both games were very close with HMS actually completely giving the first game away. I think Two Rivers has to be added to the list of best 7th grade teams. In 7th grade, the East side of the NKMSBL is definetly the weaker division. HMS or Two Rivers should advance through that bracket.

Talent wise Gray has the horses and can be dangerous but they are struggling this year no doubt.

Well, i would say its a crapshoot on who the best is but if I had to say when healthy and fully loaded i would say Twenhofel just because they have depth. 1-10 they have a very solid squad. Other than that the Birds have either beaten them or split with them. I am certainly not inclined to say that Highlands is Number 1 at all but I would say on any given night they could beat any team in NKY as there really isnt that much separation. Summit View when fully loaded is very tough, Conner is a nice ball club as is Gray Middle. If I had to pick Top Teams in 8th grade NKY and in no particular rank here goes. Twenhofel, Conner, Summit View, Holmes, Highlands, (havent seen Tichenor this year) and Gray probably would make the list as well. Assessments of solid teams from viewing and JMO remember. Twenhofel- Very deep, hot shooting team with some nice size. Conner- Very well coached, fundamentally might be the best in nky. Play as a team. Summit View- Good shooters, 2 very athletic players in Sampson/Swanson with decent depth. Holmes- Very athletic, if you dont box out they will kill you. Not very good shooters at all. Highlands- Athletic group, when they want to play they look great defensively. Decent shooters. Gray- Nice combination with Pavy, Brown and Mays. Morgan is an athletic kid as well who helps on boards. Tichenor- havent seen em but I now they have the Carter kid at PG and he is lightning quick. Beechwood- Nussbaum carrys them period. They have some athletic looking kids who look like they probably wont grow anymore but they are non-factors if you defend them.
