Congrats to Twenhofel. They are the team I will be pulling for now that SVMS is out of it. I felt so bad for those boys tonight. It broke my heart to watch them play so hard and still lose. They need to be congratulated on a season well played. Only two conference loses and conference runner up. Way to go boys. They faced a lot towards the end of the season and the nine that were left gave it their all. Two were still there every step of the way even though they were out due to injuries and I know it broke their heart to lose too. But that is life and these boys learned a hard but good lesson about reality. They will be back next year and ready to win it all! Good luck to the teams that are left! It has been fun to watch.

HoopDr apology accepted. I agree, it would be fun if Boone joined the league as well. It would be great for the kids to play kids they may face in high school. It is fun to watch the kids grow...... Enjoy!!!!!!!!

I don't think anyone is complaining about the conference HoopDR. Also, SVM is not the reason Boone CTY didn't want Kenton in there league. My understanding now is that Boone wishes they would have kept Kenton in there league. It was a competitive league and they realized the grass is not greener on the other side. SVM will not use any excuses win or lose. They have played team ball all year. They have had 6 to 7 different starting lineups due to injury and school issues and have survived. For them to get to the finals will be difficult. Whatever happens, the remaining players should be proud of the way they hung in there. Good Luck to all.

Some players from the late 80's Highlands- Draud, Blasingame, Cowie NCC- Sandfoss, Pangallo, Albrink, Jacobs Campbell Cty - Several Franzen's, Jolly, Kearns, Ken Johnson Three of the best teams at that time. Great rivalries......

There was only one team with one loss and that was Sharp and that loss was to Summit View. They are in the other division and should be given the top seed in their division because they only had one loss. Twenhoffel, lost four games including one to Summit View. It really does not matter. The brackets are set and what will be will be. Just wanted to set the record straight that Summit View was the only team in the conference to beat everyone. Win or lose no one else can claim it. They were ALL conference games. I am talking about division games. So it basically means the other division games don't count for anything and that does not seem right, since they all play each other in the tournament. And only one comes out the champ.

The seedings do not make much sense to me. Summit View is the only team to beat every team in the league but are a 2 seed since they lost 2 conference games. It basically says the non-conference games mean nothing. But you still have to win to advance.... Good luck to all!!

3BREDS2B you bring up some good points. I didn't realize that the high school requirements were less strict. One bad grade doesn't cause a kid to lose basketball, they have to have two offenses of the same class, I believe. How can I read a copy of the high school rule? Thanks for your perspective.....

Summit View follows the policy they have listed. The policy is in the best interest of the "student" athletes. Society now a days wants everyone to have ump-teen chances. Hence a problematic society. Those that choose not to follow simple rules pay the consequences. Kids may like to run it up on each other that is fine they are kids but, parents should know better. I would never say it and I would be embarressed if someone else said it. It was one person. The rest of the parents were very gracious. But these are kids and in NO WAY should a parent be acting like that. These kids are already down no reason to kick them too. As far as losing so many players....Summit has lost two to injury and the rest to grades or disipline problems. No matter how much people tell kids they have to keep their grades up or behave some just have to learn the hard way. I just hope they learn the lesson now and it does not hurt them in the future.

Well good luck to them all. I must say that I feel bad for the depleted Summit View team. They have worked very hard all year beat everyone in the conference, a feat no one else can claim. Only lost two games and will have nothing to show for it. Sorry to see it end that way for the kids that are left. It showed on their faces tonight. The boys who make it to the end are the ones who are left to suffer the loss, including the two lost to injury (they were still there every step of the way). The rest were lost to other issues and it makes me sad for the boys who played their hearts out tonight and were worn out. Heard one Twenhofel parent say "take that now Summit View" not showing much class but, the rest of the parents were great. I wish them the best of luck in the tournament. They are a good team and a group of good boys. I do know one thing, Summit View may be depleted and tired but, they will go down fighting to the end.

Ugly is a very good word for it. I am still upset. It was a bad loss. Again Woodland played well and the ref's would not have been able to affect the outcome of the game if Woodland had not kept it a closer game and I don't want to seem like I am taking anything away from their kids but, those ref's should be fired! At one point one of Summit's players was standing three feet away from a play and the ref called a foul on him. He literally was three feet away and no where near the ball. In fact he was standing off by himself! That was his fifth foul. Sad thing is I think the guy was just to stupid to know better. Oh well it is just a game. Life goes on and you are right the Jags will bounce back. Enjoy the Super Bowl and pray the guy from Woodland is not refereeing that game! LOL

You are close on the fouls. Woodland shot 31 foul shots to Summit's fifteen. Can't take away the fact Woodland made the majority of them and they did play well. But the ref's lost this game for Summit. Three starters were fouled out of the game. But what is so amazing is Summit has not had a player foul out of any game all year. Again Woodland played well, congrats on the win but, the refs made the game VERY one sided.

Summit View will be just fine. They have continued to win games when McClendon and other good players were out. They always find a way to do it through hussle and talent. It will be fun to watch. I think the boys will all step up to the plate and still go all the way! But if they don't it won't be for a lack of effort! They always give their best. McClendon was not the team. Sure he helped a lot and has a lot of talent but, there are lots of other kids on that team with talent and leadership!

This young man was failing the same class two times in a row. He was having troubles in the class, that needed to be addressed and the school was concerned about addressing the academic needs of the child and not the sports needs. Summit View has a tougher academic policy than most schools and I support them on it. A child's education is the most important and if you can't do well enough in the class room to pass then that should be the students focus. NOT SPORTS! I love that my child plays sports and fortunately he dose not stuggle at all in school but, if he did I would take him off the team myself and help him focus on his work. This child is not a poor kid. He has more than I did as a kid. He was moved to TRMS so he could play baskbetball. If he does not play than I stand corrected but, if he plays it is sending the message that his academics come second. Again I am not knocking the child but, the administration and the adults involved in his life need to realize that reading and math are the more important skills in life, instead of the very tiny chance he might play basketball in the future and make big money. I will not post again on this topic I have made my feelings really clear but, this is not fair to many involved and there is no justification for it. It is not fair to the children already playing at TRMS, it really is not fair to his team mates at Summit View that he has played and won with for the past year and a half and most of all it is not fair to the child. He has to much to lose with his education. But again I do wish him the best and hope he gets the help and "mentoring" he needs. I must also say someone posted earlier "if" there were academic issues with this kid. There is no "if" there are issues. Don't try to blame Summit View for telling a kid he needs to focus on learning instead of sports!

Well I hate that the term "kicked off" is used. Yes he was told he was no longer eligible to play because of academic concerns. He is a really great kid and I wish him the best. But my concern is this, what message is being sent when a student is not eligible to play because of academic reasons at one school and then is pulled out of that school to play at another? Isn't this the message that sports comes before learning? I also feel that if the conference follows the same rules as the Kentucky High schools do, how is this player allowed to transfer from one school to another 2/3's of the way through the season and still allowed to play? How is this fair to the kids that already play for TRMS? How is this fair to the teams in that division that now play TRMS and the dynamic of their team has changed and could affect the outcome of the standings? This truly could affect the outcomes for teams like Highlands and Sharp. I am not sure any of this should be allowed. It seems we have gotten away from the point of middle school basketball and all we are concerned about is winning the game. Don't misunderstand me I like winning just as much as the next person but, not at the cost of education or a kid's happiness. It is just a game after all, this is not all there is in life. I will also add that I think Summit View will still come out on top. They are a very talented team. Sure this changes the team's dynamic but, they still play well together and they will adjust and move on. Again I wish this child the best. He truly is a great kid and a great player. I hope he has much success in the future in all areas!
