In the 6th grade LCA Shootout this weekend Lincoln County rolled over Clinton County in the finals. Clinton really struggled this weekend, Lincoln could be a title contender. I have been really disappointed in the Clinton 6th this season. They are 14-3 but haven't really played very well all year. Dalton and Davis play much better in the 7th and 8th grade games than they do in the 6th. If we don't improve we will not be a factor in the 6th grade state tournament and I loved our chances to win it when the season started. It has to be coaching!

Shocking score in the 8th grade. I think Summit's 8th grade team is head and shoulders above the rest of the NKMSBL. This just goes to show, that's why the game is played. I still look for Summit to go undefeated and claim the NKMSBL Championship.

 

I think they can be if they decide to play together as a team. I'm seeing a lot of individual play for some reason. When they move the ball and make the extra pass, hit the open man, they are tough to beat. I look for them to lose a couple of games before they figure that out though.

8th grade Summit over Holmes 39-35

 

Not a pretty game by Summit, but some nice play by Yanke coming off the bench at the end, and a very good shooting day for Jackson with 17, I believe. So when needed, the rest of the team steps up.

I would assume he was told that so he doesn't get satisfied. To be honest, the last three games I saw, he missed a ton of bunnies. He works hard but would like to see him convert on a consistent basis.

You are right, it appears that there are several on the team who are concerned about indvidual stats..... I know coach Franzen preaches team ball and has had a difficult time time trying to get this group to get that concept.

They are very good but head and shoulders is a little much. They are very good but not dominant. I think Twenhofel is just as good but thats just my opinion. I think Twenhofel's defensive intensity is slightly higher than Summit. If Summit is getting good bench play from Jackson and Yanke then yes they should take the league title. At this point they are probably the best though. If Huesman and Pouncy are hitting and Sampson is scoring on the baseline not to mention Swanson penetrating they are very tough. There is a lot to be said about team ball though, Highlands is learning that.

 

Remember, this Summit team is also the same AAU Bulls team and they dress 10 or 11. The NKY Warriors were shorthanded a few weeks ago and only had 6 kids who all were Highlands players. They beat them by 11. I noticed some individualism in that game so Dadof3 has a good point about team play.

What are Mason Co.'s records in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades this year? What kind of teams do they have at this point of the season? Have read just a handfull of posts from other teams that played them. Just curious to what we have comming through the ranks.

How does Camp Ernst 8th grade team compare to Twenhofel, Highlands or Summit's 8th grade teams?

I havent seen them this season. Highlands beat them by 4 or 5 last year as 7th graders but much can change in a year. I hear though they are solid.

Summit hasn't played them since they were in 6th grade. Summit blew them out at home, but only won by about 8-10 at their place as they were much improved. Haven't seen them play since.

Any results on the Dayton Middle School Tournament? Walton-Verona's 7th defeat St. Mary's 8th "b" team by a convincing margin. I'm not real sure what kind of format this tournament has with 7th and 8th grade teams competing against each other. Woodland, Walton-Verona, Turkeyfoot, Twenhofel and Highlands all have a chance to make this an interesting tournament. I believe Walton plays Dayton in their next game which should be interesting. St. Mary's 7th grade played Villa this afternoon. Any results from this game? I believe Highlands defeated St. Joes in a tight game as well.

I've seen Twenhofel's 8th and Camp Ernst 8th and i'll have to say that Camp Ernst 8th was much more impressive. It would be very hard to match up versus Camp Ernst's size. I know that Twenhofel's 8th is pretty good but size is hard to teach.
