How did Twenhoefel do tnight?

So much for the big game tonight... More like big (first quarter)... Highlands seemed to give in early in the fourth, only down by about 14 with 4+ minutes to go the coach pulled the best players... Highlands played well in the first half but it just wasn't the same team in the second...

 

Its been that way most of the year but to be honest I dont think anyone deserved to be on the floor tonight. The lack of effort and intensity was weak and many parents left that game scratching their heads. If it were me I would have collected all of their uniforms and told them they can earn em back in practice the next day.

 

Congrats to Summit View though as they made the runs when they needed them.

8th grade won by 20.. It was never very close as St. Pius (I believe) only dressed 7 kids..

Clinton County 6th 36-30 over Russell County

Robertson did not play but the game wasn't that close.

After #24 (McCoy?) had his way in the first quarter, I saw Coach Franzen chewing a little Jaguar butt, so I'm not overly convinced it was a lack of intensity on the Highland's part as much as a pick up on Summit's. After the spurt at the end of the half and the run at the beginning of the second, you could see a difference in the demeanor of the 'Birds though.

I agree with that assessment but knowing our kids I can tell you that there wasnt much intensity the entire game. McCoy got his points in the first qtr but that was all McCoy. They ran a couple designed plays and made a couple entry passes to him and he did the rest. The Birds are best when creating turnovers with their press and half court defense and that didnt happen at all last night.

 

When Huesman hit that 3 ball to end the first half I knew the "Hay was in the Barn". I told the people sitting around me that he would come out with confidence in the 2nd half and keep shooting. Sampson is a really nice player as well. The future Pioneers are looking solid. Congrats again.

 

As far as the 7th grade game goes, Highlands did have their way. Gotta stay positive though SV fans. You cant expect 34-0 seasons every year and you gotta keep those kids positive because being only one class below they are going to be needed.

I have never seen Sv's 7th grade play..I was just figuring the Birds got killed and Pop was being a smartellic..What was the score qryche???

I dont remember but when I walked in it was 33-10 in the 3rd qtr. Butler emptied the bench and had 5 what looked like 6th graders out there for most of the rest of the game. I think SV made it respectable and it was only a 20 point loss or less. Birds were playing without Andy Buten as well, not sure why.

That was Huesman's first shot attempt in the game. I thought Highland's D did a pretty good job of maning up on him and making it hard for him to spot up.
