December 4, 200817 yr I have never seen Sv's 7th grade play..I was just figuring the Birds got killed and Pop was being a smartellic..What was the score qryche??? they came out with a better effort tonight against CC Purple... They were actually up in the first half by about 12 or more... Cut to 2 at half and they didn't even score in the 3rd period... Lost to CC Purple...
December 4, 200817 yr Summit View 8th grade had a big win tonight against CC Purple... Summit was up by 20 or more throughout the game... Up by 30+ when starters went out in the 3rd period... Tonight match up was no match. Swanson and Sampson did what ever they wanted tonight and Huesman and Pouncy added their points with a solid performance on defense as well... One or two things that I didn't like tonight.... Campbell County announcer thinks he's doing NBA games yelling out names and play by play when kids score (some un-called for). PA/speaker system kept making loud crashing sounds from time to time... Sounded like gunshots. Second was the Ref's. They definitely earned their cash tonight calling 50 fouls (NOT making that up)... In the second half alone at least 15 per team... This was the longest game we've had in 3 years at Summit.

When HMS 7th coach put a whole group of 5 players in after CC made a run the announcer said something to the extent of "Coach Butler must not be happy as he brings in a whole new 5." A little over the top but I like a little excitement by the announcer once in a while.
December 5, 200817 yr Turkeyfoot came into Highlands tonight and stole 2 games. The 7th grade game was a doozy going to double OT. 56-52 was the final. Birds had a chance in 2nd OT to tie with 10 sec on a 3 pt attempt by Houliston that found the bottome of the net and came back out. UGGGGH In the 8th grade game the Birds jumped out like they always do in the 1st qtr. AFter that they got into foul trouble and #35 Moo Young took over for Turkeyfoot. He is a player and IMO one of the top 8th graders in NKY. Tall, good skills with ball and plays hard. 22 total fouls called on the home team and a total of 9 on Turkeyfoot. Two bird starters fouled out early in the 4th and one of their starters was out sick who they could have used on the boards. They scored 11 2nd half points which isnt going to get it done. Final score was 36-27 Turkeyfoot.
December 5, 200817 yr I heard that Two Rivers (Holmes) now has Jalen Avery on their 7th grade squad and its looking like he will be attending Holmes. He is a very nice point guard and has played with the Tar Heels for several years. Highlands plays Twenhofel next Tuesday the 9th. How did Twenhofel do vs. Sharp this past week?

Who is St. Veronica? Beechwood should be solid with Nussbaum (Flash). He loves to take it to the basket so if you build a fence around him you should be fine. Handle the Holmes press and make them shoot it from 12 feet out and you win, period.

Thats cool, I think its great to schedule more games. We played in IHM's tournament last year and there was an OH Catholic team from Hyde Park area. We got them in the semifinals and they edged us by 3. It was a competetive game. Hopefully you guys get something out of it tonight. Good luck. On a side note, Highlands is going to do the Home/Away again this Christmas Break with Brossart 8th grade. (basically St. Mary/St. Joes Cold Spring all stars)
