December 10, 200817 yr Twenhofel swept Highlands tonight out at their place. 7th grade game Twenhofel won by 9 or 10. 8th grade game Twenhofel had to shoot over 50% and Highlands gave their usual lackluster effort on defense giving up 66 points. I think the final was 66 to 43. This team has serious problems that dont seem to be getting better. They are on a 3 game losing streak and are in a CAtholic tournament on Thursday night.
December 10, 200817 yr Walton-Verona took two out of three from Camp Ernst tonight at their place. Walton-Verona's 6th grade team won in a close game. The WV 7th grade team won their game in a blow out and the Camp Ernst 8th grade team won their game in a blow out.

Hate to keep harping on the refereeing, but it was terrible on both sides tonight. Same refs have been at Summit the last 3 years I've been going and it seems they're getting worse quickly. It was a fun game to watch though. Sampson had a double-double and Nussbaum went off for Beechwood.

Sampson had a double-double and Nussbaum went off for Beechwood. Seemed like the Ref's were tired and didn't feel like going tonight... I've seen them there for a few years and used to be ok... Maybe they are getting wore out before the third game??? Turn-overs almost blew for Summit along with the missed layups and 10 foot shots... Holmes Saturday morning, they better get it right by then...

December 10, 200817 yr I worked late and couldn't attend. How'd Barnes, Racke, Ayers look for Twen? All Barnes did was hang around the 3pt line and he nailed a couple. He can shoot but that is all he does. Racke has a nice soft touch around the basket, he hit 4 or 5 nice shots within 8 feet with hands in his face. Ayers came off the bench and made some nice slashing moves in the lane for buckets. Twenhofel played very good defense and shot extremely well. Everything was going in for them and nothing falling for Highlands early. They have a solid lineup 1-8 and should win some games. They double the ball everytime it is picked up which caused problems for the smaller Highlands guards. The major thing lacking on Highlands team this season is DESIRE and that cannot be instilled or taught it has to come from within. Gut check coming soon for those kids. What they dont realize is that wearing Highlands across their jersey brings out the best in other teams because they are always shooting to knock em off. They have to match the intensity and havent so far this season. Its still very early but things are going to need to change or it is going to be a long season. Congrats to Twenhofel they have a very nice ballclub and played very well.

I remember my son's grade school team played them in 5th grade and we won like 28-21 and Nussbaum had every point for Beechwood. Dayton Tourney Brackets are out. It looks like there are two separate divisions an A and B. Teams in the A division are Summit View, Highlands, Turkeyfoot, St. Joe, CC Purple, Twenhofel, St. Mary and Woodland. Opening games are Highlands/Summit View, Turkeyfoot/St. Mary, Twenhofel/CC purple and Woodland/St. Joe.
