Pulley Dismissed From Team

Featured Replies

This is to funny.

Last week Brooks says Pulley may miss some time but won't lose his starting job. I say that isn't enough. The UK faithful tell me I'm an idiot because I don't know all the circumstances.

Today, we hear that there was more to the story and Brooks dismisses Pulley, supporting my argument, and I'm an idiot for saying Brooks should have done what he did.

Good for coach Brooks, he righted his earlier wrong.

Actually he didn't say that as Pulley hadn't been named as the starter. He said he would still have the opportunity to compete for the stating job. But I get what you are saying.

Great move by Coach Brooks imo. This sends a message to all others that ths kind of crap will not be tolerated. My opinion of Rich Brooks just went higher. I thought all along that there was more to the story, any kid can "mess up" but Pulley has repeated and imo has been trouble from the word go and has been given multiple chances to straighten up. So much for what all thought was the slap on the wrist.....

Give scholly to a kid that wants it and respects it.

Maybe he just waited until he was sure of all the facts.

:thumb: I woud say that is exactly what happened.

Once Brooks had all the information (which none of us probably have), he made the decision he felt was in the best interest of the program. Noone can say he did not give Pulley his chances, but I hope that Curtis takes this as a sign that changes need to be made. He has too much potential to not do something positive somewhere. I wish him the best, but I do support Brooks in his decision.

Do you think he will end up at EKU?

Do you think he will end up at EKU?

I was thinking Murray State, possibly EKU. But with the new head coach at EKU, I am not sure if he would be willing to take a chance. Especially given that EKU has a history of not being real high on KY kids anyway. Either way, I hope that Pulley finally realizes that this may be his last chance, whereever he ends up.

I would hate to see him go to EKU and beat out the senior from Perry Central. I think he would be eligible right away at a 1AA school.

Please explain how he was wrong. You didn't know all the facts, neither did Brooks. Once he became aware of the facts involved he did what he was felt was right. Brooks made no wrong decisions, just smart ones.

I fully support Coach Brooks in any decision that he makes regarding the discipline of his team. Im sure this was a difficult decision and I was hoping, for the boys sake, that it didnt come to this. I know that there are posters out there that wont agree with this, but it is a little upsetting to me that there are some in BGP land that seem to take pleasure in this sad situation. We are talking about a young man's life. As I said, I supported Brooks on his decision of taking away playing time and I support his decision of Pulley's dismissal. However, I certainly feel bad for Pulley. I only hope that he rebounds from this situation. I can take no satisfaction from any player being dismissed whether they are from UK, Louisville, Tennessee, or anywhere else.

So it takes Brooks months to find out one of his star players was arrested (only after a second arrest does he get wind that there might be a problem) and then some more time on top of that to get the details (but not before public statements that Pulley might still start?)

Doesn't sound like Brooks has a very firm grasp on the reins, there.

Wow, you and Rowdy Red Ram are really reaching on this one. It is funny that in this situation you guys would take whatever decision is made and criticize Coach Brooks for it. Coach Brooks is not above criticism. I have criticized him in the past. But come on, at least criticize him for something he has done wrong, not making a sound decision based on getting all the information together and deciding from there.

Good thing we have acouple freshman coming in trying to compete.

Brooks lost grasp with the situation because it took him 3 months to realize Pulley needed to be eliminated... yet Kragthrope takes a year to weed out Petrino's trash and after they start getting arrested, going Scarface style on NC convenience stores, and get arrested twice for the same drug charges, he is hailed as a "Cleaning the program up"?

I don't think he could step in and beat out Holland. Al is a senior leader, knows the system and this Colonel team will be his team. I think Pulley would have a chance next year to be the QB, but anywhere he goes, there are no guarantees.

Holland is probably a better QB than Pulley frankly.

If I were guessing (and I am) I would say Pulley failed a drug test. Simple as that.

Sad news, but it is the right move. Best of luck to Mr. Pulley.

I am not big on criticizing either Brooks or Kragthorpe at this point. Its a football team. A football team is full of guys with a little mean streak in them. I wouldn't want a bunch of choir boys on my football team. Unfortunately when you have around 100 college young men bad things will happen from time to time. The important thing is to put a stop to it as much as possible. If UK or UL have a bunch of arrests on a consistent basis then something needs to be done. But at this point I am not faulting either coach.
