Harrison County High School is a 20 minute drive and numerous Lexington County Schools are within that same distance, I believe.

 

Depending on what part of Scott County he lived in, Franklin County would be an option.

If a talented young man or young lady, want to transfer to another school and move a long distance, I have no problem with them picking the best option.

 

The only reason Euton and Jackson, are being criticized by some, is their talent level and choice of school. If they both enrolled, at a school which was 2-24, very little would be said, other than how they will help make that school better.

 

Let them get their education at Scott County and play athletics, their choice.

I may be wrong, but I believe that in the process the commissioner or the Board of Control are the only ones who can rule a kid eligible. If it was the Hearing Officer then that would just be a recommendation. At that point the recommendation would go to the board of control for a vote.

I only know this because a kid in Montgomery Co. went through the same thing last year. Where the hearing officer made a recommendation that the kid should be eligible. The kid and his family thought it was over, but the BOC still voted him ineligible.

I hope the kids are eligible, but just would like clarification on where they are in the process.

Why do you feel that way? How can you say that Euton's move wasn't legit? I also feel if you knew the reason behind Jackson's move, you would feel the same way.

 

I totally agree! How can Anyone say that Euton's move (no matter what daddy said to the paper) was not legitimate! I DO NOT know the details behind the Jackson move, but if someone could ever tell me the real true reason(s) behind his move, then I would consider a different opinion but until then I will disagree with the ruling on Jackson. Yeah they just helped make an even greater mockery of the KHSAA. I have lost what little respect I did have for the KHSAA. They may as well just allow anyone to play wherever they want. All student athletes could go to the highest bidder then, not just a chosen few.

And Toyota is making cuts left and right due to the economy. I'm not sure how is going to land a job now in Georgetown.

Only your opinion here. I think the sentiment would be the same with many, many, many posters on BGP, transfer rules and the enforcement of them would be continued to be argued the same way (with me and others) as they are now. I do not see how anyone can argue against a family "moving" into a school district from another district and not be ruled eligible. I just can't support the decision about Jackson without more information, until then I will continue to criticize that ruling.

Good for both of them. They moved into the district and should have been eligible from the beginning. If they were two less-talented kids no one would have even questioned the tranfers. Should the parents have lied and said they were transferring for academic reasons? Bottom line: they moved for whatever reasons and it just happened to be to Scott Co. which makes a lot of people upset. I wish both of them and the team the best of luck.

I am actually happy for both of those kids even though it sends the wrong message. I am glad they are able to play. Scott Co should run the table with these guys, Guyn, Phares, etc.... I mean come on.

 

Any word on Flannery? I am sure he is next at being awarded eligibility.

Then I have lost what little faith I had in KHSAA! This sends a message to everyone that if they move there kid for whatever reason(legit or not) that if they press the KHSAA hard enough then they will get their way.
