I'd like to hear the cow being killed and about 2 minutes later have my steak.

 

No higher than Medium Rare. Ever.

Depends on the cut and marbled the steak is. Sirloins, strips, and flank steaks I like medium rare to medium. T-bones, Filets, Ribeyes and Demonicos have to be medium well and all have to be blackened.

I just know I have been to a restraunt before and someone as for Medium Rare and they said they weren't allowed to do anything below Medium. So I didn't know.

 

And Jim Schue...I am with you. I honestly don't think I have ever eaten a steak at a restraunt...at least that I paid for. I much rather grill one up myself. You enjoy it more that way as well. Goes great with a cold brew.

This has happened to me every time I've ever ordered a steak or a burger. The waitress gets all upset and warns you not to order anything less than medium.

I'd say that I wanted it medium rare anyway. And if the waitress says that the establishment won't cook it that way, I'd be sure to order something else; probably something about half the price of the original order. I ALWAYS do this when the restaurant is out of what I want. Plan B is always something significantly less expensive.

 

Just my very nice, but slightly passive-aggressive way of voicing my displeasure.

Just to let you know, sometimes the place would rather you do that. The profit margin on steak is very, very low, so if you switched to some pasta, or inexpensive chicken, etc....they probably made more money. Just food for thought.
