My dad was 52 and my mom was 48 when he retired and they moved to St. Augustine. I'm 52 and have my time in the KRS, but with a child about to enter college, I'll need to do something else after I retire this year.
July 3, 200818 yr High School: Any farm task that people would pay for (Baled and put up hay - Set out, harvested, and stripped tobacco - picked beans, corn, cucumbers, and tomatoes - cleaned barns and spread manure) I started working at the Corbin Pizza Hut my senior year, right after football season. Morehead State, Cumberland College, and UK: Janitor at all three schools - clerk at a convenient store called Fast Mart in Tates Creek - helped open the Morehead and Mt. Sterling Pizza Huts and worked both throughout my time at Morehead - during the summers worked at both the Pizza Huts in Corbin and Williamsburg and bagged groceries at the Krogers in the Trademart SS behind the Pizza Hut in Corbin. I've been an electronics technician for Delco Electronics and an electrical engineer for Nokia. I started with my present employer as a production manager and created the IT department about 20 years ago. June 1, I celebrated 25 years with these guys. I did this too for my parents...didn't get paid, but had plenty of food and a roof over my head. I remember when I was younger of having to pick strawberries....all 5 acres. Also would pick blackberries and sell them...oh those chiggers would eat me up..
July 3, 200818 yr Are you the guy that drives that loud truck around Bellevue? Negative. I am Operations Manager for Boone County. I'm sure I know the guy who drives in Bellevue though. I love that thing. I just mentioned to the Mrs, that that is the coolest ice cream truck ever. I wonder if you come to my neighborhood. What neighborhood is that? I don't drive much anymore, last summer I drove 60+ hours a week, but now I do mostly managerial/corporate stuff.

July 3, 200818 yr I worked in retail once, I worked in the parts department of an RV store. Working with the public is not for me and I'll never do it again. I have a lot of respect for people who put up with the public everyday. It has cost me my faith in all of humankind.

I also worked on a farm for many of my high school and a little into college years. I bailed hay, set tobacco, stripped tobacco, hung tobacco, topped tobacco, used the weed eater, fed cows, etc.
July 3, 200818 yr High School: McDonald's (opened for a new McDonalds and have some funny stories) Cut Grass, bailed hay, set tobacco, lifeguard, worked labor for KY Power (right before the start of college as incentive to graduate). College: Computer Lab, Peer Tutor, Gas Station/Liquor store, started coaching high school football, summer job with high school coaches. After college: Middle school PE/Health North Oldham Middle (Head Football Coach), High School North Oldham High School when it opened (Assistant Football Coach), Hayes Middle School (Head Coach), Lex Cath High School Assistant Coach, Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Sales, Lawrence County High School Assistant Football Coach.
July 4, 200818 yr Mowed lawns in my home town in the '60s. 50 cents for most lawns. Worked at a theater from the time I was in the 4th to 6th grade. I swept the theater every weekday, and twice on Saturday and Sunday, for $2 per week. But comic books cost only 10 cents, and a pop or ice cream was 5 cents, so I was doing okay. Later, when I was in junior high, I worked the concession stand at the theater for $8 per week. Saved my money and bought a bicycle. Worked on a federal funded school summer work program in 1969 (NYC). $59.34 every 2 weeks. I thought I was rich!!! Was in the Upward Bound program for high school kids at EKU in the summers of 1970-1972. Attended EKU, graduated 1976. Started teaching high school in my home county in the fall of 1976. Retired in 2005. Now I hustle quarters in skins games at our local golf course. Usually takes me a week to equal my 4th grade salary, but that's okay too.

(Thats $179.21 per game after taxes- in it for the love of the game.) Currently Teacher and Coach.
July 4, 200818 yr Became an EMT when I was 19, became a Paramedic when I was 22. Still doing it after 16 years. Hazardous duty retirement, I can retire at 46.:ylsuper:
