Very good point of a public school that has the support of the community and a very good head coach. As was the case back in the day when Brown was at Nelson. A public school could become as good as X and T every year if the support is provided. BC did it all through the 80's and early 90's. It is ha hard road to travel which is why we only have a hand full of programs in the State of KY that are considered the best.

For those of us who aren't aware of the rift between Coach Brown and other coaches could you elaborate as to the cause.

I think what he is saying is that the other coaches would rather not anyone have success because it disproves any complaints they have against X and T. Its a low blow to the complaining coaches not necessarily the implication of a rift between coach Brown and anyone else.

I think I am saying many coaches like to ignore success stories that don't fit their perceived injustices.

 

This is from another thread but it does a good job explaining what many coaches want:

 

They (the Board) appear to be trying rather desperately to accommodate the membership by hitting a moving target as the schools, particularly the football coaches keep changing, and begin to resemble the "boy that cried wolf" as they keep changing what they want. Here is what I am saying. There are teams in Louisville, who year in and year out are better than teams anywhere else in the state BUT Louisville, and who could likely beat MOST of the top teams out in the state including Lexington teams , however they will never advance too far into the state tournament because of "The Holy Trinity" in Louisville, (Male, St X, Trinity). Move a 6A team like Fern Creek, Manual or Ballard to any of the 5 districts besides 3, 4 or 5 and they will make to at least the 3rd round of the playoffs 4 out of every 5 years before they get knocked off by one of the big THREE If one of those teams would be lucky enough end up in district 7 or 8 they would likely make the state semis 4 out of every 5 years if not more often.

 

Okay, I don't agree with this point. Henry Clay, Dunbar, Tates Creek and Lafayette would do fine in a district with a Fern Creek or a Ballard IMO (Scott County would do fine as well, though not in Lexington). I think T, X, Male and Manual would win just about any district in the state at 6A, but the other Louisville schools would struggle to establish themselves in Lexington. I believe this would be the case in N. Kentucky as well, but Lexington is the thread topic.

Does any other Lexington School besides Lexington Catholic have more than one win vs those big 3 in the last several years?

Trinity hasn't lost to a Lexington school since Beatty arrived in 2000.

Lafayette and Dunbar aren't even close even though they appear to have lots of talent. Coaching and game planning must improve around the state in order to have a chance against Trinity in the playoffs.

I am still impressed with their gutsy performance against us in 2006 when we put up 28 on them in the first quarter and they fought back hard. I am not sure what is missing there but when they figure it out then they will a program to watch out for.

I know that for the last several years...the Rock faithful have greatly respected HC going into each of those games. I feel fairly certain the Staff instills in the team a healthy respect for every team they face - especially as Playoff time rolls around.

Each of the games the last three years have been totally dominated by Trinity. Henry Clay can not stop Trinity. They can not defend the pass with the man-to-man scheme they have used. Trinity has had men running free ten yards behind the Henry Clay defense in each game. Also, the effective passing game has set up the running game and Trinity has run well on the ground in each game.

 

I honestly felt Trinity could have scored more than they did in each of these games. Henry Clay has moved the ball well in the games, but have not capitalized on many scoring opportunities. It has not matter anyway, since Trinity is scoring at will.

T will only stop itself on O but it can be slowed down and the only scheme's that work are of the 4-4 or 3-5-3. These are only run well with very good coaching.

You are incorrect!

 

Henry Clay has never played cover 4. Mostly two deep zone, man under. Lots of man press in 2007 with no jam at the line of scrimmage. Trinity has killed the Blue Devils in each year with their inside slot receivers. No jam at the LOS and these receivers have been faster than the personnel assigned to play man up on them. It has been most embarrassing each year.
