A guy I work with (who has some country roots and is very educated, I must add) pronounces the word extra "extry"!!! Talk about a head scratcher. It cracks me up every time he says it.

I've heard that one as well. And, as you stated, education does not really matter in these things, the examples that I have used have been used by the educated and uneducated alike.
