May 5, 200818 yr He has struck out like 30 times in 100 at bats. Something like that I forget the exact numbers. 27 SO in 109 AB He'll fit right in:thumb:
May 5, 200818 yr Sure do wish the current OFers would be "stuggling" like that. They could probably hit .284 in AAA too.
May 5, 200818 yr Author Freel can get on base, but gets picked off and his horrid on defense. Freels defense isnt that bad. Did you see him stay in front of the ball and knock it down today:lol:
May 5, 200818 yr And why is that? 1. Who else plays 1B? 2. Votto played 6 games in LF last year and while 6 games doesn't give you time to full judge a person his fielding percentage was lower than Dunn's career percentage. 3. He has shown he can play 1B, why move him.
May 5, 200818 yr GT, I thought you were pro Dunn's OBP and Slugging percentage? Reds will never be a true contender until they get rid of the 22 million dollar dead weight in the outfield.

Those things are great indicators of a young player with room to grow. I'm fair enough to say at this point, those progressions just don't seem likely here. At least not for 15+ million over 5 or 6 more years. At that price you can afford 2-5 guys to fill the void...

May 5, 200818 yr It's time to pump some new life into this team and bring up the young turks. By what I see, some of these guys are just going through the motions. And where is all this small ball talk we heard over the winter when Baker was hired. Didn't I hear him talking about using the Reds team speed? I'd rather watch a bunch of guys loose every game giving me 110%, caring about what goes on on the field, than what I'm watching now.

I guess we were hoping he would learn how to hit but this guy is gonna be a HR swinger likely his whole career. For other teams he may work fine but he does not work in Cincinnati. It's not even all about the money, yeah for 13 mill were getting ripped, but his inconsistent and lack of clutch hitting wouldn't work at 5 mill a year in the 4 spot.

He has shown he can play 1B, why move him. If they move Dunn and Griffey, they could move E-5 to 1B, and Keppinger to 3B with Gonzo playing SS.
May 5, 200818 yr If they move Dunn and Griffey, they could move E-5 to 1B, and Keppinger to 3B with Gonzo playing SS. I wouldn't count on Gonzo too much. He's only topped 130 games 4 times in 9 full seasons.
May 5, 200818 yr I wouldn't count on Gonzo too much. He's only topped 130 games 4 times in 9 full seasons. E-5 has enough trouble catching the balls hit to him and now you want him to have to catch batted balls and thrown balls?
May 5, 200818 yr I wouldn't count on Gonzo too much. He's only topped 130 games 4 times in 9 full seasons. With one season at 130 and last year where the missed games had very little to do with his own health. Hard to fault a guy more concerned about the near death of his son...
May 5, 200818 yr E-5 has enough trouble catching the balls hit to him and now you want him to have to catch batted balls and thrown balls? E-5's problems are VERY rarely related to his glove. From that angle LRCW has you...
May 5, 200818 yr I would keep: Harang Cueto Volquez Bailey Cordero That pitcher they traded Lohse to the Phillies for Bruce Phillips Encarnacion Votto and probably a few other minor league players.
