May 4, 200818 yr If Walt wants to keep his job, he better do something This quote from another thread got me thinking. If you had to rebuild the Reds, what players would you keep? Im not real familiar with the minors so Ill only list who I would keep off of the MLB club. Cordero, Francisco Cueto, Johnny Harang, Aaron Vólquez, Edinson Phillips, Brandon Votto, Joey Norris Hopper (DL) Everyone else needs to go if I was rebuilding this team. Who would you keep?

You wouldn't want to keep Edwin Encarnacion and Jeff Keppinger?
May 4, 200818 yr Author You wouldn't want to keep Edwin Encarnacion and Jeff Keppinger? Encarnacion- probably but the errors kill me. Keppinger- kinda just slipped my mind.
May 4, 200818 yr Encarnacion- probably but the errors kill me. Keppinger- kinda just slipped my mind. It would be a big mistake to let that cause you to give up on 25 year old with his kind of offensive potential. He's had a little over 1200 at bats in the Majors, which is about 2 full seasons worth. With those at bats he's hit 81 Doubles, 47 Homeruns and has 194 RBIs. Put that with a .274 Average and a .350 On Base %. That's an average of 40 Doubles, 24 Homeruns, 97 RBIs and he's just entering his prime. Make an outfielder out of him if you have to. If they put you in charge and you decide to get rid of him make sure and give Theo a call.
May 4, 200818 yr My untouchables are: Phillips Harang Cueto Volquez That's it. Who is the hitting coach? He's the 1st to go.

My point is Walt has a long hard job to do.

May 4, 200818 yr Author Why are you getting rid of Bill Bray, Jared Burton, and Jeremy Affeldt? Because I think they stink, but Ill admit Im not the best baseball mind in the world. Who would you keep?
May 4, 200818 yr Because I think they stink, but Ill admit Im not the best baseball mind in the world. Good thing you're not in charge of rebuilding the Reds, but at least you admit you stink.
May 4, 200818 yr Burton was a Rule 5 for a reason. He just needs more expirence. I am keeping him for sure if I am rebuilding this team.
May 4, 200818 yr Burton was a Rule 5 for a reason. He wasn't valued enough by his old team to be put on the 40 man roster???
May 4, 200818 yr He wasn't valued enough by his old team to be put on the 40 man roster??? He's got potential.
May 4, 200818 yr He wasn't valued enough by his old team to be put on the 40 man roster??? Neither was Josh Hamilton, and we know no GM in their right mind would keep him on their roster if they were rebuilding. Let me add Trevor Hoffman to that list as well. :sssh:
May 4, 200818 yr Keep E-5 BP Keppy Votto Hopper Gonzo Harang Cueto Volquez Coco Burton Bray Affeldt Blow up the OF situation and put Bruce in RF, Hopper in CF and E-5 in LF. Keppy at 3rd, Gonzo at SS, BP at 2B and Votto at 1st. With Dunn and JR gone, there is plenty to spend on the rest of the roster...
