I think we'll be seeing Highlands back at PJS again this year. I've seen them a few times this spring and they looked pretty good with Guidugli running the show. O and D backs are very fast and good. O line was the only "weakness" I saw and even they looked very good.

The O line is returning only one player with any varsity experience at all #63 Dempsey. Same scenario as th 07 team, only 1 returning starter. The 07 line wound up being one of the best ever. The dynamics will be different from last years squad, but the common denominator is Coach Scott Turner. By fall the Birds will again have an awesome O Line.

I agree. I've only been in Fort Thomas for about two years now but Turner has done a great job with the O-line both years. I don't see this year being any different.

And you were missed. LN said don't let that happen two years in a row.

 

We wont, the little thousand legger (18 month old) is a real handful these days and been swamped at work. By Tuesday I was bored and wishing I was on the beach sipping adult lemonade like last year.

Highlands has a couple guys patrolling the sidelines that could be head coaches elsehwere, Weinrich and Turner are both tremendous coaches and the kids love to play for them.

The O-line HAS to gel. At times this spring they looked outstanding...at others, they looked as though they had growing pains. Backfield will be tremendous on O & D. LB's will be strong and D-line will have another stellar year with a large rotation of players. Kicking game will need a major "step-up" as they lose alot in that area from last year. I do believe they have enough to return to PJS in December!

 

Do you have any name's for who might start O-line or D-line?

O-line looks like TE-Roller; LT Dempsey: LG Schlosser; C Combs; RG Laber: RT Grubbs. But that's just what Spring looked like. Rosenhagen, Martin, Bardget, Klingenberg, Dierig, Wells, et al could all make a run to displace someone. Last year's line wasn't settled until the Thursday before the first game!

I've been hearing some positives from several folks about JH's program and their run for the title in '08. Time will tell... should be anohter exciting season in 5 A football!

I think the two biggest offseason stories/issues for the Bluebirds will be:

 

1. The quarterback competition between Guidugli and Bardo (and perhaps others, like Turner). The conventional wisdom has been that it's definitely Guidugli's job, but I've also heard that it's by no means a settled issue at this point.

 

2. The extent to which the offensive line comes together. This was a (and maybe THE) key to the team's success in 2007, and the unit has lost every 2007 starter except one.
