20 6A Coaches are Scared of Trinity and St. X

Featured Replies

Who are the coaches?

Surely these brave upstanding men have no problem with their names being made public do they.

Don't know who they are I read the same article you did.

I didn't think the attendance was anything special this year between St X and T. In fact, I was embarrassed for the state of Kentucky if that is the best draw Kentucky has to offer for 6A football. Perhaps the vast majority, football fans in Jefferson County and the state of Kentucky, are getting weary!

If you were embarassed re 6A, I'd hate to get your thoughts on the other 5 attendances then.

1A:

2A: 5,679

3A: 7,619

4A: 7,603

5A: 6,231

6A: 15,696

It never is the second time around, but it still dwarfs what the public schools would bring.

It should. They are two Louisville Schools playing in Louisville (the biggest city in KY if aren't aware). That's not a very good argument.

And the 6a attendance won't even be as high as the first rounds of the sweet 16. Now we should all no where we stand as football fans:confused:

I got one even better, the best two football programs in Kentucky.

Why would the coaches care if people new they signed the letter. How many 6A Schools are there. I would think that 20 is over half.

Best two teams in the state should meet for the State Championship.

This should probably not be taken into consideration when deciding, since it's not in the other classes.

In the past, it was not uncommon for the best 2 teams in all of old Class 3A to be Highlands and CovCath, and they were in the same district!!!

When geographical/regional playoff brackets are used, often the 2 best teams can't meet in the finals.

I was thinking the same thing. 16K at a state football championship is nothing to be proud of... in Louisville or the state of Kentucky. The Birds play in front of more fans in the regular season when they play in Ohio - Paul Brown Stadiun and/or Nippert Stadium.

I think a shake-up just might generate more football interest in the state, and eventually, greater attendance and revenue for all 6 match-ups.

We'll never know unless we give it a shot for a couple of years. :thumb:

When Ryle played Trinity in 2006...what was the attendance that year?

When St. X played Scott Co in 2004...what was the attendance that year?

I don't think we have to go back too far to find out what the attendance will be like.

I'm not saying that that should make a difference in the alignment, but that I don't think you can say the attendance will be greater if one of the teams playing is not X or T.

Lets look at the reasons they are "scared".

All Male students.

They haver kids from 20 surrounding counties plus out of state.

Private money can go directly to the football program. Public schools have to share.

Look at their home fields.

Their coaches are known to look around at younger kids.

Look at the amount of numbers of assistant coaches they have compared to pubs.

Most public schools have kids go both ways, the X/Rocks have over 100 kids for the varsity alone.

Wonderful views form your Purple Colored Glasses. What about the rich kids at Male and Males alumni assoc. Also Male has had the nicest field in JC until recently that cathoilc taxpers paid for.:cry::cry::cry:

There's not enough 6A schools outside of Louisville, and too many 6A schools in Louisville, to support this.

Where is the line of separation? Are the two districs that occur in Louisville split by Geography? Are there more AAAAAA schools in Western Kentucky and Louisville combined than the rest of the state? I would like to know the answer because I don't. Is it purely numerical that these two districts in the same city are on different sides of the state bracket?

Twenty coaches of Class 6A football teams signed a letter to KHSAA commissioner Brigid DeVries asking her to give "careful consideration" to the playoff alignment. The system in place would allow St. Xavier and Trinity to meet in the 6A finals in 2009 and 2010. The coaches want the football playoff format tweaked so that if St. X and Trinity meet in the playoffs, it would be before the state championship.

Kind of a silly title for your post don't you think??

RM since you asked so nicely

2006-10623.

I looked all over the place for 2004 but I couldn't find that years attendance.

AS I understand it if you divide the state right down the middle the line goes through Jefferson County. There are 3 6A districts that include Jefferrson County teams.

  • Eastern, Ballard, Trinity, Seneca
  • Butler, Manual, PRP, ST. X
  • Bullitt Central, Southern, Fern Creek, Male

They are pretty much geographical. The only change that might make it more geographically even would be to swap St. X and Bullitt Central.

IMO these males should not be leading young men.

These male gendered people should go coach Soccer, or maybe hockey, where a game can end in a tie, and everyone can feel better about themselves at the end of the day.
