20 6A Coaches are Scared of Trinity and St. X

Best two teams in the state should meet for the State Championship.
Exactly! Seems like the only thing that makes sense.

If thay are really serious about this then lets go back to the old days of a Jefferson County vs. State at large champion.

The Jefferson County schools will never have to travel and will be able to play all of their playoff games at PJCS.

100% of the proceeds will be divided among the participating schools.

But wait, weren't those the reasons that were given for doing away with that system in the first place?

I know this question is off topic but how much do teachers make at St. X and Trinity? Are there any websites where they post job openings at their schools? Thanks.

They make less than they would at public schools, I know that for a fact. Specific numbers I do not know though.

To the facilities argument 12 of our 18 titles came before we had good facilities. In fact they looked more like a torture chamber than weightroom.

I think its great that you all do have new facilities, but Im sure alot of sweat is happenig in the new facilities just like the old one as well..

I always liked that system better anyway.

There are a number of ways to look at this. We all know that the KHSAA loves to have ST X and Trinity in the finals, because that brings a larger gate, and thus generates more money for them. As far as the rich getting richer, if X and T met in the playoffs (before the state), they get to split the gate and thus add more money to their programs.

Another way to look at is this. How many KHSAA sponsored events do the two best teams meet for the state championship? Ex. This year Lex Cath #2 beats Bryan Station #1 in the 11th region basketball tournament. By rankings these were the two best teams in the state starting post season. It will be that way in almost every state championship played from team sports to indvidual sports. In every other class of football there will be regional title games and semi final games that feature the two best teams in that class in that year, but one will fail to make it to the finals. It's the system that is in place.

However the KHSAA has manipulated the system in 6A to benefit themselves financially first and foremost.

Frankly I think all the tournaments should be seeded anyway. With the 1 and 2 seeds opposite each other on the bracket anyway in order to try and put the best teams inthe title game.

Well of course but it doesn't always happen, look at the other classes in the past. Do you think it mattered to Ryle if they were considered best of the class a couple of years ago? You cannot predetermine who the best two teams are and make them automatically meet for the championship. By your logic your saying that T and X are the best teams and there shouldn't be any other discussion.

How are you going to seed teams that are in the same regions? Have everyone traveling all over the state paying for travel expenses? Come on now we aren't the NCAA or the BCS here.

I didn't think the attendance was anything special this year between St X and T. In fact, I was embarrassed for the state of Kentucky if that is the best draw Kentucky has to offer for 6A football. Perhaps the vast majority, football fans in Jefferson County and the state of Kentucky, are getting weary!

I would agree with that as well. The draw wasn't quite as good. It was also a cold rainy night. But many throughout the state leave for the 6a game just because of the facts and most everyone realizes them.

I agree it wasn't very impressive. If I remember correctly it is the T and X Alumns that say that the attendance isn't very large for that game because of weather and distances for out of state fans not expecting a T-X matchup. There wasn't a enough going on like during the regular season meeting.

It never is the second time around, but it still dwarfs what the public schools would bring.
