I was going to say that it is a shame that some people will vote on his name, but, then again, it's not like he is putting the issues in the front anyways. He is running primarily on rhetoric.

I'd even be willing to say that its already won. There are still some ignorant people out there that vote on name because they don't know where the candidate stands on issues. But they usually vote Democrat anyway.

I hadn't even thought of the Iraq-Barack rhyme sound. The other two name connections have circulated for quite a while now.

I really don't listen to Cunningham, but I am told that he routinely calls politicians by their full name. If a name will sway votes then you would think Barack Obama by itself would do that. Like I said before, why in the world would anyone with any sense at all have Billy Cunningham speak at their function. They were asking for trouble with that choice.

 

 

I don't disagree about it not making sense to have Willie on the stage. Then again, I don't know for certain how much actual input Sen. McCain had on organizing this event. My guess is that with all the other campaign stops going on in Ohio, the candidate relies on local supporters to organize events. Very poor judgment on someone's part, I'll agree. Whose part, I don't know. In any event, as someone totally opposed to scourged earth campaigns and has regularly advised candidates not to do those types of campaigns, I applaud McCain for cracking down hard on such activities. And I don't find it to be an excuse that the opposition has or is running those types of campaigns. I fully believe that a majority of Americans are sick and tired of such slime antics. I'd rather lose with class and be able to sleep when I put my head on my pillow than win as a result of classless, uncivil and dirty partisan behavior. If that makes me seem as a political neophyte, trust me I am not.

I agree. It will be interesting to see if McCain stays the course concerning mud slinging when it is "crunch" time. I have to admit, I am not well versed in the political realm. I will be better served to stay outside looking in.

That's fine, but for some people to act as if there is no underlying motive for the "Barack Hussein Obama" references is naive at the very least.
