February 26, 200818 yr After his campaign rally in Cincinnati today, Repubclican presidential candidate John McCain apologized for remarks by conservative WLW talk show host Bill Cunningham that McCain said he thought were offensive to Democratic candidate Barack Obama. "I take responsibility and I repudiate what he said," McCain told reporters after the rally. Cunningham repeatedly referred to Obama using his middle name -- Hussein -- and said that Obama was a product of the "Chicago-Daley mob.'' McCain was not on stage when these remarks were made but was told of them later. Full Story
February 26, 200818 yr What is the big deal about his middle name being Hussein? Saddam Hussein. It is a big deal to a lot of narrow minded people.
February 26, 200818 yr Cunningham is a wacko who keeps referring to him by Hussein, I assume to make the connection in people's minds with Saddam.
February 26, 200818 yr What is the big deal about his middle name being Hussein? Because many Americans hear the name Hussein and suddenly think Saddam or "crazy Arab."
February 26, 200818 yr What is the big deal about his middle name being Hussein? Fear tactics!! Like him being a muslim, or him being a terrorist in disguise. I just don't like these tactics from either side. His name has no relevence to him performing his duties and responsibilities as president.
February 26, 200818 yr Saddam Hussein. It is a big deal to a lot of narrow minded people. I realize it's the same name, but was Saddam that famous when Barack was born? It's not like he was named after him. Some people are...never mind.
February 26, 200818 yr Cunningham is an idiot! I am not for McCain, but you cannot have someone like Cunningham on stage before a presidential candidate. Now Cunningham is going after McCain because he apologized for him. Cunningham's act has been getting old for some time now.

February 26, 200818 yr Not defending what Cunningham said but how is it any worse the the profanity laced tirade of Woopie Goldberg (I believe) when she introduced Kerry during the 2004 campaign. As I recall she derided GWB fairly harshly and with lots of colorful metaphors. I don't remember anyone apologizing for her offensive remarks.

But, right off the bat, trying to get into peoples minds associating someone's name with both radical Islamic groups and a dictator is different from using colorful language to describe an unpopular president.

Who cares what she says? I'd expect nothing less out of her. I saw her on a TV show the other day interviewing Amani Toomer and Michael Strahan, and she asked what Amani was thinking when he made that crazy catch with his helmet during the super bowl. (It was David Tyree who made the catch) And she claims...CLAIMS...to be a Giants fan.
