February 14, 200818 yr forget record, who are the five best teams in America: here's mine: 1 - Kansas 2- UNC 3- Georgetown 4 - Louisville 5 - UCLA
February 14, 200818 yr Here is how I always approach rankings. I never rank them 1-4, mainly because I feel the difference between these teams is so small. 1st tier of teams - assuming all are healthy Kansas UCLA UNC Memphis 2nd tier of teams Duke Texas Tennessee Georgetown (a little hesitant to put them in this slot) 3rd tier of teams About 25 schools 4th tier of teams Next 50
February 14, 200818 yr forget record, who are the five best teams in America: here's mine: 1 - Kansas 2- UNC 3- Georgetown 4 - Louisville 5 - UCLA You have an unranked team at #4 on your list? Your favorite team is 22-1, and you don't have them on there? Here would be my top 5 teams in no order: - Memphis - UNC - Duke - Kansas - UCLA Next, you have the teams that are right up there with the top 5: - Tennessee - Georgetown - Stanford Then, you have the teams that are apparently improving and getting hot at the right time: - UCONN - Wisconsin - Louisville - Purdue
February 14, 200818 yr Author Having a currently unranked team on my list really doesn't hold water. I guess Memphis could be in there, but they are the worst FT shooting team in the nation, that is why they can't win the tourney, IMO. I feel that Louisville is playing as well as anyone right now, and that's why I have them up there. Defense wins championships, and there aren't many teams that play defense as well as Louisville. UNC doesn't play defense right now, but Roy will fix that. As far as Duke is concerned, I am not sold right now. Sure they are winning a ton of games. Here's the thing this year is the 6th in the last eight years that Duke has started a season 20-1, they have only won one championship in that time period, and been to two Final Fours. I am not sold they can keep shooting lights out for the next month and a half.
February 14, 200818 yr So, RP, your intent was to select teams that you felt like had the best shot at cutting the nets down, not the 'best' teams.
February 14, 200818 yr I still trying to figure out why at the point in time, UCLA is in everyones top 5?
