Has anyone else heard larkey told his team today. Cause in Harlan we're still in the dark about everything.

NO.
That would have been just too coincidental if they were.

I don't think Coach Saylor Has ever coached anywhere but Rockcastle. Anyone know for sure?

He has been coaching for 33 years, 27 of them have been as a head coach at either Laurel County(4) or Rockcastle County (23). He was an assistant at Laurel County and Cawood for the remainder of the 6 years. He has been retired for 3 years as a school teacher.

Do you know his overall record?

The other two Larkey's are his sons correct?

Does anyone think they will come, or will they stay?

I see this hire mirroring the Letcher Central hire in the father son combo, which was great

I heard that Coach Larkey told his players today that he was leaving. Has anyone else heard this? I sure do hate to see him go but wish him the best whatever he decides to do. He has really been the best for Rockcastle and will do his best whether he goes or stays. The Rock won't be quite the same without him.

I heard this too! I can't confirm that if he did or didn't, but I did hear that he was meeting with his players today and telling them he was going to coach Harlan County High School.

Does anyone know if this is true or not? The person that told me said that he heard it from someone else. You know how things can get turned around when word travels from person to person, so it's untelling if I got the correct information or not. Have you heard anything about this rockcastleraiders?

According to the KHSAA, http://www.khsaa.org/football/realignment/6classdraftalignment.pdf

Harlan will be in 6A District 8.

However, Harlan is expected to only house approx: 1,300 students.

Harlan County was taken out of the original plan from a couple of years ago. The KHSAA decided to look at the numbers when the school opened. The school will probably have more like 1,200 students and will almost certainly be 5A.

Try about 6th or 7th choice
6th or 7th ?

Why so negative, things happen for a reason. I think people should support the new coach even if he was the 50th choice (Good Luck Bears).:thumb:

Very true. If they get Tom Larkey, it would be the equivilant of getting Bob Stoops.

Has anyone heard yet

I know HDE knows if this is a done deal him and Tim Saylor are like 2 peas in a pod. lol

Mt Vernon Signal reports Coach Larkey accepted job in Harlan. I am sorry to see him go but wish him the best Harlan is getting a great coach

I have watched this very closely and I will say that the superintendent has

done an outstanding job of keeping his people together and buying into this

idea that when we come together as an entire community when can do

something special (I believe this is going to happen). I have said it before

in earlier post there are some great coaches at Evarts, Cumberland, and

Cawood. They to believe that something special is going to happen. At this

point a Head Coach can either bring them together and move them forward,

or with lack of maturity hold them back, because I will only play the 11 best

players all the time. It looks to me that numbers will not be a problem, and

the right person is willing to coach it like a college program. (I say look out

Eastern Kentucky and good luck). Also I would like say good luck to all

the Black Bears.)
