Hatz
Has Buchanan ever won a championship? Had Chuck Smith before he came to Boyle? Had Chuck Smith even been to the post season before Boyle and if so how did it go? Did Sam Harp win any kind of championship before he went to Danville? Next Question. KYHOOP
Stoney from Garrard would be a good hire. Plus the youth program at Lincoln is there and really good, just need a HC to take over and give 100%. Stoney would be a great fit for the PATS. 1. Clay C. 2. Steve S. get back with some more names later

Hatz
Nope, but Danville had, Harp took over a great program and made it better. Spin it how you wish. The question you were raising was about David Buchanan's credentials not the program. My statements still hold up. No one know's how a coach is going to do until they hire him and then he has the chance to prove himself. No one knew if Sam Harp would do what he did because of his past record. (In fact I remember all too well the so called Danville faithful who were bashing him after his first 3 games produced an 0-3 record and how Duffy would have been 3-0.) And Duffy would not have been 3-0. I don't think Duffy would have made it to the semis that year either which I believe Harp did! Then I will beg the answer. Why would French leave Lincoln after those last 2 years which were outstanding?

gchs_uk9
Why would Stonebreaker be a good hire? He took Casey and gave them a cupcake schedule, they won like 1 district game and he got them into the playoffs. Since then what has he done at Garrard? Agreed. If anything, the Garrard program has gotten worse under his direction. There is a complete lack of discipline within the program and wins are few and far between. Finally, his coaching style has not improved one bit during his tenure; the same coaching mistakes he made as a "young" coach he's making as an "experienced" coach. Lincoln County is a traditionally strong football program that is really on an uptick right now. Hiring away the head coach from eight miles up the road will only set them back to the pre-French days.
Mr.Network
Buchanan may not have won any champioships but neither has Lincoln. Can we count Regional or District Championships? A lot of things have to come together to win a state championship. Except during big runs of talent, back-to-back championship seasons are rare. I think it is more important to consider the following about a prospective head coach candidate (not necessarily in order of importance): 1. Can he beat the teams he should beat? 2. Can he, on occasion, beat teams that he shouldn't? 3. Can he build and maintain a program? 4. Is he a positive influence on his student-athletes? 5. Will he cooperate with the coaches of other sports at the school? 6. Will he work with the youth league? 7. Can he interact with the community to build community support? 8. Would you want your son to play for him, even during a losing season if such were the case (easy to be a winner)? It is nice to win a state championship but most seasons will not be championship seasons. To me, it is more important to have a man who will teach your young men pride, respect, dignity, sportsmanship and life's lessons whether winning or losing but regularly winning more than losing. I think David Buchanan and Mike Settles names have been mentioned more than any others and I think both would be good fits at Lincoln County. Both have good situations at their current positions and may not even be interested. I am confident that Lincoln County will do everything possible to find the best available coach for the football team.
