I will say he APPEARS, to act "naive" enough to not let outside pressures effect him, that leads to brilliant things, and sometimes head scratchers as well. That said, they both are pretty darned good, while Peyton still carries the torch right now. Peyton is the better QB at the level of development he has reached yes, but Eli won a superbowl after having been in the league for a much shorter period of time. And their numbers are not that dramatically different, at the same point in their careers, from the posts above. Taking all that into account and the fact Eli may well have some intangibles that it took Peyton quite some time to come by, I think it is a fair argument that Eli my be better than his brother was at the same point in his career.

I can't buy that, simply because the scenarios are completely different. The Colts were awful the first couple of years around. Defense wins championships, and the Giants have almost always fielded a solid defense, the Colts have only had that recently.

If so, how good COULD he be? For what it's worth I am not a fan of either Manning. No. Eli is very good, better than most think but he is not close to big brother. For the record, I really like the Mannings, both are class in every sense of ther word. JMO
February 4, 200818 yr I know this much: Eli can lord over his brother the fact that he did what Peyton has never once done, and that's win as an underdog in a big game. Heck, Peyton struggles to win as the favorite in big games.
February 4, 200818 yr Tony Kornheiser just said that Eli led the league in Turnovers by a QB this year. If so, that just goes to show, while Eli, who just raised his value big time and has improved dramatically the past 8 weeks or so, is not as good as his big brother. YET

The year before Eli I believe the Giants were 4-12. It was Jim Fassel's final year. The next year (Eli's rookie year) they were 6-10, I believe. Did not have a good defense or offense. The next year (Eli's 2nd year, 1st as a starter) they finally got decent, and went 11-5. The following year due to bad defense and some poor offensive play too, they were 8-8. That leads us to this year. 10-6 with a Super Bowl Championship. Eli has not always had solid defenses. He came into a team that had to rebuild just like Peyton did.

In his 4th year as a starter, he threw 23 INTS.

Peyton's 4th year compared to Eli's 4th year, Peyton had more touchdowns, better completion percentage, and more yards. Heck, he even had 3 more rushing touchdowns. Peyton's 4th year he also had 4 less fumbles lost, so Eli did have more turnovers as well as the stats listed above. This argument is a lot closer then most people would think. But Eli had a better team this year and still didn't put up the numbers Peyton did in his worst year ever (aside from his rookie season, which we don't want to get into with Eli).
