February 5, 200818 yr Eli is still "Baby" Manning, and he always will be. Wow. Nice argument, very insightful. I try and provide facts and the next post my entire side of the position is undermined.
February 5, 200818 yr Is this a serious debate? I mean Eli has made great/huge strides the last two months, but better than Peyton? Peyton Manning is one of the best QB's of all time. Eli is a young pup who did win a championship, but he still has a very long way to go before even being considered as good of a QB as Peyton.
February 5, 200818 yr I like them both. Eli isn't really close to Peyton. Peyton I would consider proabably one of the best of all time. When the Giants won the Superbowl, I thought they didn't win because of their offense tonight. It was good, but their D was ferocious. Eli is still a little inconsistent, but Peyton is there week in and week out.
February 5, 200818 yr Peyton's 4th year compared to Eli's 4th year, Peyton had more touchdowns, better completion percentage, and more yards. Heck, he even had 3 more rushing touchdowns. Peyton's 4th year he also had 4 less fumbles lost, so Eli did have more turnovers as well as the stats listed above. This argument is a lot closer then most people would think. But Eli had a better team this year and still didn't put up the numbers Peyton did in his worst year ever (aside from his rookie season, which we don't want to get into with Eli). That is not a fair statistic because Eli may be in his 4th year, but it is only his 3rd full year as a starter. Eli sat over half of his rookie season on the bench. Peyton started his entire rookie year. Eli had a better team then Peyton? Peytons 2nd year they were 13-3!

The defense was part of it, but the Giants won as a TEAM which is the way they have done it all year long.

We're talking about Eli in his 3rd year as a starter, vs Peyton in his 3rd year as starter.
February 5, 200818 yr We're not talking about Eli vs Peyton now. We're talking about Eli in his 3rd year as a starter, vs Peyton in his 3rd year as starter. The thread asks if Eli is better than Peyton and right now the answer is no.

The defense was part of it, but the Giants won as a TEAM which is the way they have done it all year long. I agree, they won as a team, and Eli played extremely poised. I also saw Tom Brady on the ground more than any game this season. You have to admit they gave the Patriots fits on offense.

I guess we will have to wait until Eli's 4th year, although if we consider this his 3rd year and compare it to Peyton's 3rd year, it looks even better for Peyton. To be honest, since I am not really a Colts fan, I don't know why the team was 13-3 and then two years later 6-10. I really can't imagine blaming it on Manning, maybe it had to do with the fact that Edgerrin James only played 6 games (after his explosive rookie season in 1999), it was Reggie Wayne's rookie year, and they didn't draft Dwight Freeney till the next season. Either way, Peyton's production was better then Eli's at this point in their respective careers.
February 5, 200818 yr The thread asks if Eli is better than Peyton and right now the answer is no. The original post says Is Eli actually better than is brother at this point in his career? If so, how good COULD he be? I guess it's all in how you look at the post. The way I understand it is , is Eli better than Peyton at this point in his career vs Peyton at the same point in his career.

February 5, 200818 yr But Eli has a Super bowl championship and super bowl MVP trophy 5 years before Peyton ever got one. And then I responded that I believe that Eli has a better team. But we aren't going to convince each other.
February 5, 200818 yr Author The original post says I guess it's all in how you look at the post. The way I understand it is , is Eli better than Peyton at this point in his career vs Peyton at the same point in his career. Which is exactly what I meant it as. You can't compare Eli now to Peyton now, Peyton has had a few more years to develop and have a team built for him.
