I don't care if they do, I still say this is the weakest I've EVER seen the NFL (and I've been watching a looooooong time), so I'm not so impressed. Even my Cowboys are a mere shadow of those 70's and 90's teams and the teams they had to play against all season long.

And yes, I do hate the Pats (well, Brady and Belicheat anyway), but that doesn't change how weak the NFL is right now.

^ That's what impresses you? They are highly paid professionals, they should never give up. I am impressed at how calm and cool they are. They are straight business and that's scary. That said, I hate Darth Hoodie and Rodney Harrison needs a whooping....I hate the PATS, hate'em. They did a great job, but it would be way more satisfying to see them get beat in the playoffs now.

The fact that there are only about three really good teams after NE, and then 2-3 teams that are decent (any given Sunday style), and the rest of the league is awful. But it makes for quality games, like this Cincy-Miami one and the Cincy-SF one, because each team's weaknesses flatter the other's strengths.

There are a few good teams in the NFL, but there will always be the stinkers like Cincy and Miami. Gotta have some terrible teams every year...

That doesn't make any sense. Were all the teams 10-6, 11-5, and 12-4 back in the 80's and 90's? You don't have the dynasties that stick together for mulitple years as much anymore but the athletes are better, bigger, and stronger and there's no signs that you can point to of dimishing skills (like SOME my argue in basketball that no one can shoot the mid-range jumper anymore).

I'm no Patriot fan or hater, but I'm rooting for them because I want to see history. I'm all about the history.

 

Same here. Ive never liked the Patriots only because they seem to come off as being cocky IMO. But Ill continue to root for them because I believe this may be the greatest sports moment Ive ever witnessed.

Those teams didn't have to deal with the salary cap issues, extensive media coverage, parity, etc, etc that today's Pats have faced. Talent wise are they better? Who knows? But to accomplish this in this day and age of free agency, salary cap, and most importantly the dreaded "ME" virus (ask the Bengals) is just amazing.

 

It is an AMAZING, AMAZING feat...you are right....BUT I think the 80's 49ers beat them the majority of the time.

I am not a Pats fan but why all of the hatred for them? I know Hoodie isn't the most personable guy but what has he really done to warrant the negativity?

 

And I agree with Dragon, unless they play the Packers I will be rooting for them to win it all. It is something you will probably not see again for a very long time.

 

 

What cracks me up is that the comments I hear/read about the Patriots, are what I hear/read about the Shamrocks! When was the last time anyone waxed warm and fuzzy about coach Beatty? :lol:

 

I'm like someone above, I can't be called a "fan", but I certainly don't hate the Patriots. I enjoy watching them play. I love watching them especially when they're down. It doesn't faze them. They keep doing exactly what they do, and it pays off for them. Coach Bellichek comes off as an all-business guy. I think the whole organization from top to bottom is about team, and not about individuals. And it shows in the way they achieve success.

 

Isn't Marvin Lewis talking about the fact that his team DOESN'T get that concept? To see an NFL team who gets it done and does so without any major upheaval from within has my respect and admiration!
