December 31, 200718 yr No, I mean the NFL is flat out weak compared to what is used to be. Just look around the league, it's quite apparent. As I said, even my Cowboys this year with the record they have aren't really that good of a team. Everything is inflated because the league is horrible right now. Three division champs that are 10-6 or lower. NE's closest division rival is 7-9, then it goes 4-12 and 1-15. What a boring, crappy season. There's nothing in the playoffs to even look forward to.   I'm not really sure what you expect. There are 4 teams that won 13 or more games this season. Two of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game are on two of those teams. I'm not sure what years you would say the NFL was strong but I guarantee you there are always teams 10-6, 9-7, 8-8, and even 7-9 that make the play-offs. Also, there are 8 division winners now so the fact that you won the division is a little watered down now. The Cowboys were 13-2 going into yesterday's meaningless game--yeah, that stinks. And, "nothing in the playoffs to even look forward to"? That is really ridiculous considering everyone is looking forward to them, whether they want the Patriots to win or lose.

The qb play is atrocious. I will not be overly interested until the conference finals. Its that bad.

Also, there are 8 division winners now so the fact that you won the division is a little watered down now. The Cowboys were 13-2 going into yesterday's meaningless game--yeah, that stinks. The point is how those 13-2 teams have done it. Or, in some cases, how they looked while doing it. Take Indianapolis. Peyton is who he is, and will give good play consistently. But after that it's a crapshoot because of injuries and uneven play as to who will show up. They don't look anywhere near as good on offense as last year, and definitely don't come close to the up years before that. Defense is markedly better, but not as good as recent years and certainly doesn't strike fear in anyone's hearts with Freeney absent. This team struggled to beat KC at home and Oakland on the road; they're formidable but can throw in a stinker occasionally, which can cost them in the playoffs. I give them zero chance of winning at Foxborough in the cold. Dallas also is 13-3, but Romo is prone to blow-ups as we all know and may still be a year away. They were badly exposed by New England and should've lost to Buffalo. Also capable of looking great, as the GB game showed. Still wonder if a TO blowup ain't simmering real close to the surface. Green Bay has won 13 games, but how's Brett feeling? Probably still the best team in the NFC now that Grant rounds them out. Don't think they can beat New England, but they have the best chance of the NFC teams. All the other playoff teams have major warts and simply look like the best among the also rans, your throw-ins for the four hole on your superfecta ticket. The sad part about it -- while at the same time part of what makes it interesting -- is there is so little difference between 2/3 of the league that it makes for great games in terms of excitement most of the time. It also means that there are many more really bad teams (NYJ, MI, CI, BA, KC, OK, DE, CH, ATL, SF, STL) than really good ones (NE, DAL, GB, IND). And, "nothing in the playoffs to even look forward to"? That is really ridiculous considering everyone is looking forward to them, whether they want the Patriots to win or lose. The playoffs are a must-watch, no matter what. Usually pretty quality games and story lines.

You must be easily entertained is all I can say. Don't know how old you are, but this is nothing near as exciting as it once was. Honestly, this may be the first time in my life that I don't even bother to watch the SB. You cited parity, HA! Parity is what we used to have when the playoffs were fun as was the whole season. This season stunk to high heaven.
January 1, 200818 yr :fight::fight: What cracks me up is that the comments I hear/read about the Patriots, are what I hear/read about the Shamrocks! When was the last time anyone waxed warm and fuzzy about coach Beatty? I'm like someone above, I can't be called a "fan", but I certainly don't hate the Patriots. I enjoy watching them play. I love watching them especially when they're down. It doesn't faze them. They keep doing exactly what they do, and it pays off for them. Coach Bellichek comes off as an all-business guy. I think the whole organization from top to bottom is about team, and not about individuals. And it shows in the way they achieve success. Isn't Marvin Lewis talking about the fact that his team DOESN'T get that concept? To see an NFL team who gets it done and does so without any major upheaval from within has my respect and admiration! This is the same thing as with Trinty and Highlands and all the other teams that dominate... There is always going to be people that will hate the winners.. For the Pats Haters Get Over IT... I am not a Pats fan but what they did is amazing, If they go all the way and win the SB then they are the greatest team Ever.. Are they as good as the 80,90's teams???? IMO NO but there awful close...:fire::fight:
