Im perplexed...I'm flabbergasted...I'm at a loss to explain this one.

 

Turnovers and Rebounding, not boxing out guards...they had a 6 foot guard grab 8 boards at one point...inexcusable. They can't guard...

 

There has to be a method to BCG's madness, but it is awfully hard to see it right now.

The basketball IQ of this team is atrocious.

 

One of my concerns with BCG is...is he really doing everything he can strategically to win games?

Would playing a zone offer them a better chance to win games at times.

Ths SD team was a poor shooting team and buried close to 10 3's. Open shooters galore. Ginty had hit one three all year and he hit 4 I think.

 

Crawford took 4 shots...made all 4 but may be the worst defender I have seen at UK on the perimter.

 

I thought they had hit rock bottom with the 4 game streak...and they have...unfortunately they have begin to dig.

A poster earlier said it best......Unacceptable. That is the least one could say.

This is by far the worst U.K. basketball team that I have EVER watched play. No other team even comes close in comparison with this bunch. The most frustrting thing is that with the exception of Patterson, not only are they not winning - they don't seem to care if they win or lose !:. I can't add Meeks or Jasper in that statement, those two are by far our best players and have been out. This teams only hope of being a decent basketball team is to get those two back in "basketball shape" and on the floor for complete games. I do think that this team has chance to be decent when and if this happens.

Bradley is a joke,an absolute "all about me" player. I cannot stand watching him. I really don't think Crawford gives a crap whether he is playing or not. He (Crawford) is in his own world and who knows where that is .

This team does not even execute basic basketball fundamentals, playing defense, boxing out, passing the basketball, help defense, rebounding, etc.,etc.. Other than those minor things imo we are pretty good .

 

Like I said, if we can get Meeks and Jasper back full time (they are by far our two best) along with Patterson then this U.K. team can be a decent basketball team. Should we ever get some "Unselfish" contribution along the way out of Bradley and if Crawford ever comes back from whatever planet he is on it would be a plus as well. Those two--- Senior leaders my Butt!

This team has no leadership, there is another problem.

 

I always preach on here about not being negative, I admit that this post is negative but I honestly feel that there (right now) are no positives about this team other than Patrick Patterson. Maybe just maybe when we get Jasper and Meeks back full time. :thumb:

These players aren't going to do the little things, that's not the kind of players they are, and that's not what they were recruited for, this is a whole other kind of basketball, but there's still no excuse for losing to San Diego.

I have preached fundamentals since day one. UK would win if they would just box out, guard the perimeter, and protect the ball.. It's things you learn in little league.

 

 

 

 

 

 

We have shown signs of the ability to be a good team Just look:

 

*Meeks in the first half against Houston

*Jasper in the first half against San Diego

*Patrick Patterson has had 16+ points in 8 straight games

 

Meeks and Jasper done good in the games they played coming off the injuries but they are not 100% yet, and when they get there this team will be dangerous.

 

We have a solid core with them three players. Bradley and Crawford can play but need to play consistently better.

 

1 thing is UK players right now don't care whether they win or lose. There is no emotion and outside of Patterson it looks as if this team is content with where they are.

 

2nd: WAY too many turnovers for this team, this has probably been the most consistent thing this season.

 

UK has used 10 different lineups in 11 games thus far. One of the many reasons this team has little to no chemistry on the court!

IMO, all I am hearing is excuses as to the lack of success at UK. I do not understand why so many teams are shoting the ball so well against UK? How many 1/2 and full court defensive changes have you see thus far this year?? With the lack of talent it is the coaches job to minimize a teams weakness and extinuate upon its strengths while making them play together. These guys(D1 players) can't guard a good church league team.

I would put UK up against any church team in the state.....

Who can answer this question? When was the last time the UK football team had more wins at the end of December than the UK basketball team?

And that is what bothers me the most about this time. I dont mind if your not a skilled ball handler or a terrific 3 point shooter, or a great slasher AT LEAST do the small things that can help you win basketball games. For example today, dont EVER save the ball under your own basket (Perry Stevenson). Stop the ballhandler first thing when the team is on a fast break. Box Out. Dont help off of a shooter that has hit 3 threes in a row.You do small things like that and even if your not hitting shots you can still win the game.

One other thing that am afraid of is that BCG is rushing Jasper and Meeks back. I don't think that either one is close to ready, I may be wrong and hope that I am. I think that he rushed Meeks back a week or two ago and got him hurt again.

They have to be cleared by the medical staff before they return. That being said, I don't believe BCG has rushed any of those guys back. And personally, I thought they both looked good, except for their conditioning. That will take a few more practices and games.

I agree, this in unacceptable. There's no chemistry or connection between this coach and his players. Something's not right.

And with a shallow bench he is going to have to stop his gameday practices. I don't care what worked at UTEP and A&M, it's not working at UK.

 

This may have something to do with the fact they were Tubbys recruits. I don't see any probs with Patterson.. I do believe when he gets his own recruits in there with that tough mentality that will do the little extra things he demands, like playing defense and blocking out, things will be alot better.
