Does EC always play with a short bench?

 

Yep, I don't believe they have used their bench much at all this year. If there has to be one criticism of the team, it's that some of the starters stay in late in games they probably shouldn't be in.

Why not develop the bench?

AMEN. If non-CCH people do not like the coverage perhaps they should tune in a different channel. Oh yeah, most of the time there is not a different channel to tune into.

Not a knock on the bias of Cov Cath, frankly I was thankful to listen. I just thought they struggled at the get go. They got better as the game went. It would have helped to familiarize themselves with the opposing teams players names. Like I said, they got better as the game went along. Thankful for the broadcast. :thumb: All you NKY guys can put your antennae down.

Two observations from this game:

 

1. I think CovCath is the real deal. They are a state contender and could very well make some noise at Rupp. They will be a serious challenge when it's one and done in March.

 

2. This loss will only help Elliott down the road. Playing teams of this caliber should prepare them for what should be a fairly easy trip through the 16th region on their way back to Rupp.

They only have 10 players on their varsity. I believe their depth did hurt them tonight having to play 3 games straight. They played the late game last night. They were 1-9 in 3 point shooting in the first half. They are usually among the states best 3 point shooting teams. It was a good game though. Catholic stretched it out with some free throws at the end. But both teams seem to be Top 10 teams in the state. I look forward to hopefully seeing them play again in the state tournament.

Only someone looking to criticize would have taken that comment as being sincere. The rest of us heard it for what it was - all said in fun in response to some MC fans sitting behind the announcers.

 

I can guarentee they respect Mason, but were also merely saying that Mason still needs to beat JBS (that's called respect for JBS too) before any talk of a rematch. I can recall many on here trying to figure out how Elliott matched up against Mason last night?? Always best to play them one at a time, and I'm sure the Elliott players and staff did!!

I often wonder what I'd be like as a ref, especially given my "perfection" in the stands!!

Did not mean to sound defensive. The CCH radio guys get criticized alot by non-CCH people. Everyone is welcomed to listen, however the radio guys are doing this for CCH people, so be ready for some biased reporting.

Good win for Cov. Cath. Elliott Co. was only about 36 points off their average.

Wow..really thought EC would win this. Cov Cath will get some more of Mason Co tommorow.

The bench is not very developed. Besides Maynard who came off the bench the game I seen this year, there is a big fall-off from the other 4 boys on the bench. 2 other players seen some good minutes and could develop to be good ball players but the other 2 cant compete against good varsity teams. Why use a bench when you have 5 boys who can run non-stop like these boys. Starters are fun enough to watch.

Elliot County is a very good team and this loss will not devastate them at all, but as I had spoken about before, when they met up with a combination of strong defense, quality guard play and a solid inside game they would have a lot more difficult time than all of the runaway's they have been involved in. I dont even know what Catholic has, but I would guess they are solid combination of these three qualities. Could someone give a short summary on what kind of team Catholic is?
