I read on a post several days ago that Cov Cath. had a "lockdown defender"

I think named Maille that would shut down Ferguson. I read in the paper(A.D.I.) where Ferguson Had 29 pts, 11 boards. The above post says

Grimes guarded Ferguson. Did Maille not play in this game?

 

The defender is Grimes. He's very good. From the post game quotes, Grimes was assigned to Ferguson and Ferguson was very good.

 

However, lets not overlook the fact that he was only 11/24 from the field. I'd say Grimes' D contributed to what I'm assuming is a lower FG% than he normally shoots.

You're right. Grimes held Ferguson a whole 3 percent under what he normally shoots, combining two's and three's as you stated.(According to Riherds and your 11/24 shot attempts, which I didn't have,but assuming your correct.)

"Only" 11-24 45.8 is a pretty good %. I watched the video as I stated the first night twice and again

today to make sure my stat sheet was correctand he was 11-23 overall which is 47.8% 2.3%under normal. I wouldnt note that as much of a difference but he was 5-11 from three which is 45.4% 4.6% higher than normal. From these figures one would have to say the defense was about what he usually faces or just a fuzz less.

As Grimes said after the game, he's one of the toughest players he's had to guard. I'll take his word for it.

Just messin with you a little because you said only11-24!! I asked Ferg about Grimes

and he said he was the best defender ever guarded him from the state of Ky. The figures and %s were correct but I was messin with you on the part about the defense was a fuzz

less.

He'll be a big loss for the Colonels--Isn't 4 weeks pretty optimistic for a broken arm? Hopefully that's all he's out!!

Chris is a good player but Cov Cath has and even better coach in Mike Listerman who will find a way to win without Chris. I hope Chris comes back as soon as possible.

I mentioned earlier that I like the Colonels' chances if Ferguson is going to put up close to 30 shots to get his 30 points. Covington Catholic stresses team defense too much to let one guy beat them.

I mentioned before also Ferguson doesn't have to have 30 shots to get 30

points. He was 11-23(48%) which is a great percentage. The reason he got 23 shots is Grimes and Maille(both had turns at him) could not do nothing with him. He practically scored at will. 5-11 from three(45.4%) thats a really

nice percentage against that "lockdown defense".
