When is the last time Trinity truly beat St. X?

 

2007: Bad call on Phillips fumble.

2006: Rain shortened game.

2005: Bad spot on Victor's 4th down run.

2003 State Finals: Bad call on fumble near sideline.

 

Can we count the 2003 regular season game, or was there an issue I'm neglecting? :sssh:

 

I guess next year if a certain team wins the regular season game someone will trade in his umbrella for a striped shirt.

Years out of the last seven that Trinity has outcoached a team with equal or greater talent:

X had every bounce, call, and turnover that they needed to win that game the other night. Poor descisions abounded.

 

What game did you watch anyway? Oh yes the 03 Team had more talent than Brohm????????????

Let me fill all of you on the halfback pass. AK has completed that pass everytime we've thrown it and my Favorite wide receiver was salivating that Trinity had changed their defense to a cover 2 with 2 safeties in the middle of the field. X had already hit 2 TD's to the outside. On the halfback pass, X had the outside receiver 10-15 yards past the T DB who bit on the sweep. AK had always taken off his glove in the previous games but kept it on for this play so to not tip it off. Needless to say with the misting rain came moisture and the pass flew off like a helicopter and eventually picked off in the middle of the field. Another X missed opportunity but it showed that whether it was the halfback pass or the 4th and 1, X was playing to win. Should they run Deuce around end 20 more times? Looking back you can say that but with Deuce's knee and Zoeller's cramps, maybe it was the best call.

 

You did OK this year with your Alma Mater winning a state tiltle in Ohio. I would hope both teams were "playing to win". Yes, Rolandan should have carried it more down the stretch. Hindsight is 20-20. Both teams made very unusual calls for this rivalry. I've only witnessed every St. X -Trinity game for the past 33 years. Botched field goal attempt converted into a touchdown? Halfback pass? Passing the ball instead of trying to run out the clock in the fourth quarter with a seven point lead? Turning down a field goal opportunity inside the red zone when one already has a seven point edge? Three straight passes after recovering a fumble on the opponents 40 yard line? A pass interception thrown on the two yard line?

 

We'll have to wait for the 2008 season to see the next "greatest team ever" in St. Xavier history. Trinity will get back to work after the first of the year.

Hopefully the Rocks can put together another team worthy of competing in the Gridiron Bowl Championship. I like Trinity's chances.

 

This one just about makes up for the 1975 11-10 debacle for Trinity.

They truely beat X in all 4 as the record books state that and you have never heard me to the contrary so call out the specific few you refer to instead of bunching all tiger fans together. This resembles to attitude I saw from the students after the game. Nobody respects me boo-hoo. :sleep:

Your sarcasm does a disservice to all the X kids who also will go back to work after the first of the year. Trinity was a great team that came up big in the final. St X was a great team that came up short in the final. We are lucky to have this level of quality football here. We should embrace it instead of always trying to tear down one side or the other.

Yes. Are you kidding. That was an 0-4 football team that got better as the year went on. They did NOT have anywhere close to the line of scrimmage that X did that year, but they did have a much better offensive scheme. Trinity has taken a very large step up in their philosophy, while X is still lagging a little behind. It is seriously starting to show on the largest stage in the state.

Why is it that with every Trinity win that you think you were the better coaching? Did coaching lose to Cincy St X? T beat X by making plays. X could of won had they made plays. T scored from the 1 X did not. Is that coaching? Give Glaser a break or we will discuss other topics. X was not outcoached. They did change up their tendencies.
