I find it interesting how, before last season, Bailey was deemed untouchable. Now, it seems, he's mentioned in every possible trade combination. Along with that, no Reds fans seem to be the least bit concerned about that, whereas before he was considered by many of those same fans to be "The Savior Of The Franchise."

 

For what it's worth, I've never really taken a hard line one way or another with Bailey. But I have to ask: Why is he suddenly expendable? And not just by the organization, but why do you Reds fans who stopped just short of renaming him Texas Jesus now have no problem with him being dangled? Has his value dropped off the map that much because of suspect performance in his '07 MLB stint? Do you feel he is not what he's been made out to be? Has he been given the chance he needs to succeed?

 

I just find it all very puzzling.

I don't think they are seriously entertaining trading Bailey. He's a young arm with tons of talent.

You need to ask HSSB. He has some great info on Homer Bailey.

IMO, he was brought up too early and only to sell tickets. I said all along that that decision could take a toll on him mentally. Not sure if that's it or if the Reds organization knows more about his physical problems than they're leading everyone to believe. For me, it's on the organization as much as it is Homer. I still don't think Krivsky wanted him up yet...

Personally I think it's a mistake to trade him. However, if I were pulling the strings, I'd have to consider him in a package with Hamilton if we could get a top flite starter, especially considering the competition in our division. I, for one, hope he stays,,,,unless,,,,,

Bottom line, he's a mental midget. At this point, if he doesn't have the mental makeup to be a big league pitcher he probably won't ever have it. Personally, I think we have enough roller-coaster rides...
