I found the games, our pool is a little easier than that one.

Georgetown Thunder pulled a big upset in the first game today, beating OBC (who finished 10th last year in D1 nationals) 54-52. The Thunder trailed by 15 midway through the second half (2 14-minute halves were played), but used a big run to tie the score at 52. Crisp and Gover combined for 11 points during the comeback and Page had a huge runner in the final 2 minutes, then Richardson finished it off with a driving layup in traffic with 14 seconds left to give the Thunder the victory. Not sure the scoring in this game, but I don't think anybody had double figures but 5 kids had 8 points or so.

 

In the semifinals, the Thunder again overcame a double-digit second half deficit to beat MBA Elite from Cincy in double OT. Richardson led the way with 23 points, while Portwood had 15, all after halftime.

 

The Cincinnati Knights knocked off the Thunder 64-61 in the championship game by hitting a 3 with four seconds left to win the game. The Thunder, playing about 20 minutes after the double OT win, fell behind by 11 early but battled back to tie the score at halftime. They took a seven-point lead with about 3-4 minutes left, but the Knights were able to pull it out in the end. Young scored 19 for the Thunder, while Diaw, Monroe and Portwood each had 10 or so.

 

Not sure if the Thunder will be able to make afiguy's upset prediction look good next weekend, but if they play next weekend like they did this weekend you never know. The Ville is the obvious favorite in 13U D1, but anything can happen in youth basketball. I can't wait till Saturday.

What are your predictions for the 13U State? I know I am biased but I pick Wolfpack for D2 and an upset of the G'Town Thunder for D1. It will be a great weekend of AAU basketball. See you there!

 

I would say the Wolfpack are to be considered an early favorite with their lineup. Louisville Storm are also ranked up there. I think if the NKY Warriors can win their pool and get the bottom bracket play they can avoid the STorm/Wolfpack atleast until the finals.

 

I honestly dont know much about a lot of the teams this year so its hard to say. I think the Richmond Stars will be very tough. Should be a good weekend of basketball. Why only 15 teams in D2 though?

The 13U tourney was the same weekend last year. The older boys are later to allow more time from school ball I think.

Definitely later than what our boys are used to. Last year it worked out great, same weekend at the Sweet 16, kill a couple birds with one stone. Tons of basketball that weekend.

It is done by age and the dates stay pretty much the same. The 8-12/u were all held on the same weekends as last year. (of course snow postponed the 9/u and 11/u. The reason they have the 13/u-17/u after march is so kids can get done with there school ball commitments.

Does anyone have any info on the free for all at Midamerica this weekend between Elliott County and a Louisville team, 4th grade boys. I understand it was all adults and started over a jump ball about 4-5 minutes into the game. Lots of fans involved, I hear it got crazy. They had no security people present and it took a while to restore order. I hear they played the rest of the game with the bleachers empty.

 

Its all about the KIDS, right? It amazes me how some parents act at games. What life lessons are being taught here? Grow up and act like an adult. Be a role model for your kid!! :madman::madman::madman:
