With the two best players in the Region on the same team, I am sure Elliott will just mail it in and let Rose Hill have the title. This slight may be just what the Lions need for a little bulletin board reading. I wonder what they have to do to get a little respect from the papers, move the school to Ashland? If it had been a Boyd County school returning this season in the same situation as Elliott I suspect I know who would be ranked first in both the teams and players.

What was their record last season? Did they have a solid year or did they just get hot at the right time?

 

East was 13-16 last year. Drew Johnson had some big games in the District and Regional tournaments, otherwise would have been an early exit. IMO this year's team is much more competitive. Looked good in summer play and against Menifee Co. in the Jack Fultz panorama but will have to be tested against the top regional teams to determine how much improvement over last year.

eastfan far be it for me to disagree but, I saw East at Fairview, and Raceland and the top teams had very little problem with them ie Ashland, Raceland beat them 2-3 times

The final score of a summer scrimmage is rarely a reliable indicator of how a team will perform in the regular season. I believe East defeated Ashland in their only meeting this past summer and was leading Raceland before bringing in the JV players, but that is meaningless once the regular season begins. I didn't say that East was a top team - all I said was that they looked good and should be more competitive this season. Obviously others agree (CJ poll). We will find out how the teams stack up when they play each other this season.

I know that Rose Hill has a great team, and for all anyone knows they are the number one team in the region, but with what Elliott Co has coming back off a quarterfinals apperance in the state tournament, plus the developement of Timmy Knipp, they should be number one until someone takes that away from them. Thats just my opinion.

 

Yep! I agree completely! Elliott County is the #1 team until another 16th region team beats them!

Welcome to BGP Hammer. I agree on Elliot should be considered one of the favorites and I also think that Rose Hill and Ashland should be in that group. East and Raceland should also be good. Will be interesting to see how all plays out.

 

Imo Bath could be a darkhorse, they will suprise a lot of people.

This season will be a long one this year with teams jockeying for positions.

With Rose Hill playing well today I think they proved they are definitely are one of the top teams in the region.

The Elliot and Rose Hill match up should be a great one this year. In my opinion those two teams lead the pack as of right now.

 

I just don't see how you could justify Rose Hill being the number one team though. I could easily see them being a very close number 2 but with everyone Elliot returns it's hard to deny last years regional champs a number 1 ranking.

 

Elliot returns 3 solid players in Ferguson and the twins. They also have the Knipp kid who showed signs of being a tremendous ball player last year at such a young age.

 

Rose Hill returns 2 great players in Euton and Jackson. 2 kids on the same team being recruited by UK. It doesnt get much more impressive than that. The spots around Euton and Jackson are questionable at best though. If Euton and Jackson plan on playing in Rupp before they hopefully wear UK jerseys they are gonna need a little help.

Realizing I'm celestially un-hip, I have to ask: when did Rose Hill become just "Hill"?
