I keep reading about how deep Elliott Co is but in the two scrimmages that Ive saw Coach Mays has played his starters until the game is well in hand. Maynard and the boys do not see the floor until the fight is over.

 

I will say that Timmy Knipp is going to be not a good one but a GREAT one. I can see how some colleges rate him as the best prospect on the team.

I should have added that Elliott should be ranked #1 until someone knocks them off.

The thing about that is, in the two scrimmages Elliott County has played the game has been in hand within the first five minutes. 8 people will see quality minutes this year. (Ferguson, Faulkners, Knipps, Morgan, Maynard, Center)

With that many good players maybe they should rotate starters. I remember North Carolina doing this a few years ago to sooth ego's.

Quite a few. He has taken unofficals to Murray State and Western Ky.

The 11th region looks to be by far the toughest region this year.

 

I would think Henry Clay would be ranked third in this region.

In the Coaches' Poll, 5 of the top 10 teams are from the 11th Region. 3 of the top 10 are from the 7th.

 

In the Top 25 there are five (5) Seventh Region teams which is the same number for the 11th Region.

 

Together, the 7th and 11th make over one-third of the entire Poll. Wow!

 

Yes, the 11th gets the nod, but it ain't over-whelming.

"IF".......... you really saw both scrimmages the fight was over within 3-4 minutes. Coach Mays would have to sub pretty quick in those two games to have got "Maynard and The Boys" in before the fight was over?????????????

He has been one of the top two players the last two years and now that Vanhoose has graduated, wouldn't it only make sense for Ferguson to be number 1? Sure, he has not signed a letter of intent with UK, but he has been better in the 16th region. So what Euton has done outside of the region, shouldn't matter in the region rankings. I'm saying nothing negative about Euton, but their track records show that Ferguson should be number 1. Elliott won the Class A region and the 16th region tournament, Hill lost to Raceland in the Class A and Elliott dominated Raceland in the same tournament, Hill lost to Boyd in the district tourney and Elliott beat Boyd by 15 in the 16th Region tourney. Hill may prove to be good, but with the past history, I don't agree with these rankings.

I can certainly see your point about Elliott being #1 but it is also understandable to expect that a team with 2 UK recruits may be pretty good. While there may be several players on Elliott who are NAIA or lower level D1 there is no one on that team who will be recruited heavily, if at all, by any MAJOR D1 schools. While those in the 16th may feel that Elliott is the best, and probably are, those around the state see those 2 high profile recruits and naturally give the nod to them.

 

As for Euton and Jackson, it is not unrealistic to think that Billy Gillispie knows a little bit about basketball and if those 2 are on his list and no one else is in the 16th, they must be the 2 best players in that region. He should probably be ahead of Thomas though.

Based on what I saw this past summer I would agree.

I would venture to say that Chris Lofton was the best player in the 10th and he wasn't on U.Ks' list either. I'm sure none of the low major D1 players of Gardner Webb were either:D Just because UK doesn't have you on their list doesn't mean you are not the best player in your respective region. The Rankings we are discussing are based on right now also, not what someone will be in the future. As of RIGHT NOW!!!!! Ferguson has accomplished more in the 16th Region than any of the players ranked above him!! Thats not saying that at the end of this year or next year or next someone wont blow him away but as of right now he would have to get the nod. Elliott's team has also accomplished more than any other team thats active in the region right now!! #1
