10 Good
  1. The lack of a good point guard really hurt the Raiders - many unforced turnovers and Elliott Co. really took advantage of East's inability to handle the ball. Has been a weak spot for East all season. East could never get anything going on offense because of the turnovers and Elliott Co. was lighting it up from 3 point land. Elliott Co. played great tonight. Congratulations Elliott Co. and good luck in the Sweet-16 Tournament.
  2. East Carter is a very seasoned and tough team, both physically and mentally, with a lot of talent. No backing down by these kids regardless of who they are playing. Defense wins games and East Carter is playing their best defense of the season right now. I think East will take control of the game early and push the lead out to 20 or more before cruising in for a double digit win.
  3. Congratulations to Bath Co. on the win. Clemons did a great job of handling East's pressure. Bath Co. shot very well the entire game and did a good job on the boards. East tried to rally an couple of times but couldn't get closer than 5 or 6 points. Good win for Bath Co.
  4. East Carter has a good team this year and is definitely capable of making a run in the Regional tournament. Lost to Elliott twice - second game much closer that the first game. East will not play Rose Hill unless they meet in the Regional. Rose Hill has played a much tougher schedule. I have to say East should be #3 behind Elliott and Rose Hill.
  5. Congratulations to the Raiders on the win. East Carter's bench really came through after their senior guard Drew Johnson had to leave the game early in the second period following an inadvertant elbow to the mouth. Johnson got patched up and returned in the second half to finish with 15 points and 8 rebounds and had a really great block of a Matt Thomas jump shot in the final minutes that helped stall Ashland's fourth quarter rally. Last report was that Drew needed about 15 stitches at the emergency room to close the gash on his lip and will be ready to play Friday against Boyd Co. I think he showed a lot of heart for competing despite being injured. East Carter didn't execute effectively for most of the game but got big plays from Johnson, Bair, and Jackson when they needed them and really showed a lot of depth and pulled it together when the game got close. Bair finished with 15 points and Jackson had 12 (some really big 3's). East Carter is very solid ball club. Good win for the Raiders.
  6. Even stranger is your post since the game is over and East Carter won.
  7. Congratulations Raiders on nice win. Game was much closer than final score. West cut East's lead to 6 with under three minutes to play but East made free throws down stretch to pull away. Drew Johnson led East with 22 (17 in second half) and Tyler Jackson had 12. West was led by Bo Thompson with 19.
  8. Game was a late addition to the schedule. It was played at Morgan Co. as part of Commercial Bank (West Liberty) Showcase. 3 boys games and 1 girls game. Drew Johnson led East with 17 points, Collin Kennedy added 11 and Colt Barnhill 10. Raiders put game away early - I think the third string played part of 2nd quarter and all of 4th quarter. Red Bird's #3 led all scorers. I think he had 28 points.
  9. Congratulations to Drew Johnson. Very athletic player who knows how to get to the basket and finish. Keep on going Drew!!! East Carter is looking really good.
  10. East Carter 50 Morgan Co. 39 Final Drew Johnson scores 1000th career point in win. Johnson led East with 25. Colt Barnhill was big on the boards - didn't get final stats but probably had another double double. East defense took over in final quarter to stop a scrappy Morgan Co. team.
  11. Congratulations Jonathan!! Great player, FIERCE competitor, and a fine young man. IMO the best 3 point shooter in the state.
  12. I didn't miss anything. There were missed calls on both ends but to imply that Ferguson was 'clobbered' and there was no call is simply not accurate. East Carter played very good defense last night and there may have been some contact that wasn't called but I didn't see it as being 'clobbered'. Also it didn't appear that the officials intentionally missed any calls involving Ferguson. Elliott Co. and East Carter both have great kids in their programs and both are very competitive. No doubt Elliott Co. is on top of the 16th region right now but it looks like East Carter is closing the gap quickly.
  13. I was at the game and I didn't see any plays where Ferguson got "clobbered" and there was no call. Ferguson is well known around the region for "flopping" after a 3 point shot. He use to get the foul call from the officials but now most officials are wize to the "flop". Not to take anything away from Ferguson - he is a very good player and IMO the best 3 point shooter is the area but I don't believe the officials missed any calls involving him. If anyone got "clobbered" it was East Carter's Drew Johnson. IMO he had several "and one's" that were not called. Also a no call when Johnson went down hard after collision with Chris Knipp. As for Coach Baker stopping the game I believe it was the officials that stopped play. First occassion was a controversy regarding team fouls - scorekeeper had East Carter with 7 team fouls and let Elliott shoot 1 and 1 when East really only had 6 team fouls and second time was regarding two Elliott players in book with same number. IMO the officials missed calls on both ends but IMO it did not affect the outcome of the game.
  14. Congrats to Elliott Co. on the win. East Carter played really good man defense and rebounded the ball well. Elliott's press was not as effective as in the first matchup but Elliott still got enought scores off of turnovers to hold off the Raiders. East Carter is getting better each game and played with a lot of confidence. Look forward to watching rematch which will probably be in District play. Not quite ready to hand Elliott the District and Regional title yet. Great effort by East Carter - GO RAIDERS!!
