I got there for the 2nd half, son had a B-ball game that ran late and I was just mesmerized by the utter dominance of the Birds. They seemed to just dominate and took advantage of the late fumbles and punch in some "icing the cake" scores.

 

That kickoff return after the safety was unbelievable. Ryan Ball blew up #33 on that return, my knees actually buckled when I saw that blow. I hope that kid still has all of his teeth.

 

How Josh Conner is not listed as All State or atleast Honorable mention is beyond me. Ridiculous is all I have to say about that.

 

Congrats to the Birds for staying focused and earning the victory. No letdowns next week, keep it rolling. Congrats to the CCH boys for their season. Their schedule I posted before the season started was brutal and they fought hard with injuries and new staff all year.

 

Can anyone tell me the last time they shot off the cannon for a 2pt conversion? A little trivia for ya.

Let's not bring up the fact that the CC fans stormed the Highlands field last year and danced on the H after their big win. Let's not bring up the fact that the CC student section is one of the most obnoxious year in and year out using more than their share of profanity and classless chants.

 

As for our team and fans being too close to your after game huddle, you are in Fort Thomas, on the Birds home field. Our fans and players celebrate wins and congratulate players on our field after games. Live with it. The Huddle should have taken place in the north end zone if you did not want to be around Birds fans after a loss.

 

Running up the score? Are you kidding? Dale could have left in the seniors and had a running clock if he had wanted to. Believe me the fans wanted to see a running clock against the Colonels! Dale was playing the 2nd team plenty early. Just because the 2nd team was pushing CC around does not constitute running up the score.

 

As for the multiple cannon shots. Again, you are in Fort Thomas, we love our cannon. Live with it.

 

I'm sorry your seniors were hurting. It is a sad time when a football career ends. These young men had a great 4 years as Colonels and I'm sure they have memories they will cherish forever. But the Birds Seniors were equally upset last year when they lost. If some of them took glee in the fact that the got a measure of revenge this year. Sorry, but it is a rivalry and they earned that right last night.

I'm an outsider, and "I ain't from around there," and of course am not involved with this rivalry, but if I continue to see personal jabs taken at other posters in here, I'm gonna shut this one down, do not pass "Go" do not collect $200.

Congrats to the fans and the team from Ft. Thomas! HHS is the better team "this year", and all true CovCath fans will be rooting for HHS to bring home another state championship! If CovCath can't win it, then I hope HHS does. The best football from 6A to 1A played in the Commonwealth, is played in Northern Kentucky, so Boone County, Beechwood, HHS and NCC bring home those trophies, I will be rooting y'all on.....

I showed up at the game last night with a little trepidation. Even though I was confident in the Birds, the Colonels always seem to reach down and come up with a great game. This respect for the Colonels is in the minds of some Birds fans, if the truth be known.

 

In my opinion it appeared that the Colonels were going to try and play a ball control game (best defense is to keep the Birds’ offense off the field) that didn’t work out. Highlands got two relatively quick touchdowns and the Colonels found themselves having to come from behind. I may be wrong but I don’t think the personality of this year’s Colonels team is coming from behind. Even with this said I kept waiting for the Colonels’ offense to come alive. It didn’t. This game has to be a tribute to the Birds’ defense for thwarting the Colonels’ offense the entire game.

 

Congratulations to the Colonels’ players, coaches and fans for what had to be a frustrating season. They didn’t quit and made the most of the season. I am sure like the mythical “Phoenix” they will rise from the ashes and remain an outstanding program.

CovCath was a total embarrassment. CCH coaching staff is a complete joke. Highland's was better from top to bottom except for the fans. Dale Mueller is a great coach with a great program. But, he and the birds fans need to learn sportmanship and how to win with class. Good luck down state.

 

Coach Brossart and his staff were seen talking to and shaking the hands of several Bluebird footballers after the game Friday night. In the wake of a 40 - 0 defeat, how many coaches in N Kentucky could show the composure and class that Coach Brossart displayed? The JV, you may never appreciate this comment, but kids that get the opportunity to play for coaches like Brossart win on the field, in the classrooms and eventually in LIFE!

Many of the student shouted profanity and insults at the team while walking along the visitor side. Several of the bird players and fans walked very close to the CCH huddle well after the game while the team was praying and talking and yelled very loudly and obnoxiously. We walked out next to a bird player shouting loudly about how great it was to see the CCH players crying. The multiple cannon shots after the game seemed a bit over the top. The coach clearly tried to run up the score. You have a great program, but these "little things" are classless and not needed.

 

Since this was brought up... there was a story I heard after the game last night that I think many may find quite humerous.

 

The Bluebird mascot was walking, if Birds walk, from the HHS facilities to the student cheering section. As the Bluebird was making this long journey in this outfit, a Covington Catholic supporter shouted out an insult to the Bluebird mascot. The Bluebird mascot, after the insult, went back to the facilites, took off the costume and returned back to the two grown-ups that yelled at him and said, " I am the one you insulted! You want to call me that now?"

 

Now 99.9% of the time, the Bluebird mascot is a HHS female student. Not this time. The mascot was a rabid Bluebird fan that has a daughter in the senior class, goes 6' 1",weighs close to 225. He is a very proud construction worker. I don't think the adults replied back to the ex-mascot and I do not think they will be yelling profanities at the Bluebird mascot in the future...The moral to the story... you can't judge a book by its cover?

HHS vs CCH, always interesting. Congratulations to CCH's seniors on the completion of their careers, which of course included a state championship. Few people have a career as successful as yours. We know of course that the Spirit did NOT die and will not. The hurt will diminish but the pride and class you've shown will not.

Secondly, I am beyond sick and tired of hearing about each school's student sections. They're enthusiastic kids who will go over the line occasionally. Its universal. Why do we keep talking about this non-event?
