CovCath was a total embarrassment. CCH coaching staff is a complete joke. Highland's was better from top to bottom except for the fans. Dale Mueller is a great coach with a great program. But, he and the birds fans need to learn sportmanship and how to win with class. Good luck down state.

I am soooooo happy about how the 'Birds played, but some things about CCH need to be said...

 

For a team that lost something like 19 starters from last year's state title team, plus the fact that CCH had a totally new coaching staff this year, plus their one returning star went down in a scrimmage and did not return until past midseason, CCH really pulled things together and finished the regular season strong, not to mention wiping Dixie out of the playoffs in round one. The 40-0 score looks bad to be sure, but sometimes (especially in HS football) when things start going downhill they can quickly get out of hand, and it sounds like some of this happened tonight.

 

So, congrats to CCH for the season and I am sure that with one more year of the coach's system under the players' belts, CCH will be a major force in 5A in 2008 and for years to come.

I must admit, I'm a little intrigued by the fact the The JV has been a member since January 2007, but only has 9 posts to his name. Wow!!!

Many of the student shouted profanity and insults at the team while walking along the visitor side. Several of the bird players and fans walked very close to the CCH huddle well after the game while the team was praying and talking and yelled very loudly and obnoxiously. We walked out next to a bird player shouting loudly about how great it was to see the CCH players crying. The multiple cannon shots after the game seemed a bit over the top. The coach clearly tried to run up the score. You have a great program, but these "little things" are classless and not needed.

Just remarkable and makes you feel proud' date=' [b']that a high school football team from Northern Ky. is the best team in the state[/b]. I've seen alot of high school football teams in my lifetime and after tonight I realized that the Highlands Bluebirds was the best overall, team speed, well balance, deepest football teams that I have seen in a long!!!

 

 

Might be a couple teams in Louisville and one in Bowling Green that might take exception to this statement? Great win tonight for the 'Birds and a little revenge for last year's loss. They are the rightful favorite in 5-A and best of luck to them to bring a title home to NKY!!

JV, You've got to be kidding me. The Highlands players have every right to be excited after the game. If this seemed obnoxious due to their excitement maybe the coach should wait until they get back to Cov Cath for the after the game prayer. I have witness the same thing from Cov Cath over the years and never whined about it on here because I knew the fans were excited about winning the game. This kind of stuff happens on both sides of the field, it doesn't make it right but it's part of the game like it or not!!!

By the way id the coach was clearly trying to run up the score he would have passed the ball more...Have'nt you been reading the posts on here, we can throw better than we can run, we run the ball to keep it close!!!

It was completely obvious to me that there was no running up of the score. If you especially look at that last two drives, what is a team to do? Highlands had all of their backups in, they ran the ball up the middle continuously, and kneeled it with two minutes remaining in the game (while they were on the 10 yardline going in!). If they were truely trying to run up the score, why not score there? On the 2nd to last drive, why try for a field goal when you could get a first down and probably score? And why only throw 1 pass in the 2nd half? Come on, Highlands didn't run up the score, the only things they could have done were to kneel 4 times and hand the ball over or put the freshmen in.

Wow...this Lou. St.X fan is very impressed with this win for the Birds.

Let's not bring up the fact that the CC fans stormed the Highlands field last year and danced on the H after their big win. Let's not bring up the fact that the CC student section is one of the most obnoxious year in and year out using more than their share of profanity and classless chants.

 

As for our team and fans being too close to your after game huddle, you are in Fort Thomas, on the Birds home field. Our fans and players celebrate wins and congratulate players on our field after games. Live with it. The Huddle should have taken place in the north end zone if you did not want to be around Birds fans after a loss.

 

Running up the score? Are you kidding? Dale could have left in the seniors and had a running clock if he had wanted to. Believe me the fans wanted to see a running clock against the Colonels! Dale was playing the 2nd team plenty early. Just because the 2nd team was pushing CC around does not constitute running up the score.

 

As for the multiple cannon shots. Again, you are in Fort Thomas, we love our cannon. Live with it.

 

I'm sorry your seniors were hurting. It is a sad time when a football career ends. These young men had a great 4 years as Colonels and I'm sure they have memories they will cherish forever. But the Birds Seniors were equally upset last year when they lost. If some of them took glee in the fact that the got a measure of revenge this year. Sorry, but it is a rivalry and they earned that right last night.
