Not well enough, obviously.

Lots of good responses on this thread. I hadn't really thought about animated characters, but Mel Blanc, Don Adams, Gary Owens, etc. all have very distinctive voices.

 

Is it only a coincidence that nearly all of the examples are men? Are there many women that fit the bill? These come to mind (although I still tend to think of the James Earl Jonses of the world first):

Barbara Feldon

Kathleen Turner (I'm not bad; I'm just drawn that way") - she made a cartoon character hot

 

Surprised that nobody has mentioned Ahnold.

Have to add Rod Serling to the list.

Edward Herrmann's voice on 100's of hours of documentaries on the history channel...

Keith David's narration of The War and many other documentaries...

I also like the voice of former Green Bay Packer announcer Ray Scott.

 

"Starr back, Dowler, touchdown Packers". Lots of words are not always needed to paint the picture.

I would like to add Dennis Haysbert. He does the All State Insurance commercials and on the Military Channel.

Slim Pickens is another unmistakable voice.

 

Mel Allen and Jimmy Stewart came to mind immediately and of course, James Earl Jones.
