Paul Harvey is one that really sticks out IMO.

The Voice of "Deep Thoughts" by Jack Handey from Saturday Night Live comes to mind.

 

"I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it."

 

 

"If you ever fall off the Sears Tower, just go real limp, because maybe you'll look like a dummy and people will try to catch you because, hey, free dummy."

 

 

"Something tells me that the first mousetrap wasn't designed to catch mice at all, but to protect little cheese "gems" from burglars."

 

 

"We like to praise birds for flying. But how much of it is actually flying, and how much of it is just sort of coasting from the previous flap?"

 

Also Phil Hartman from SNL has a VERY distinctive voice.

If you've ever heard the Diane Rehm show on NPR, boy, that's a voice that's unique. You have to hear it to really appreciate it.

Harry Shearer

I can recognize the guy who does the " GO ARMY" commercials to an exact dialect

Martin Sheen and Marlon Brando jump to mind. They were chosen for Apocalypse Now in part for their distinctive voices.

Archie Bunker and Jack Webb come to mind from TV.

 

As for commercials, the Keebler Elf (Ernie maybe?). Clara Peller.

 

James Earl Jones takes the prize. Darth Vader. "This is CNN"

James Earl Jones, Sam Elliot and Morgan Freeman are the best voices IMO.

 

Nicholas Cage is unmistakable.

 

Also, when Tom Cruise yells or screams he is unmistakable

James Earl Jones will forever be remembered for these three lines:

 

"If you build it, he will come"

 

"Luke, I am your father"

 

"Simba, remember who you are"

I can't believe no one mentioned "The Duke" John Wayne. No mistaking his voice, Pilgrim.

 

Jimmy Stewart's voice is also unmistakable.

The guy that does the Looney Toon characters...Mel Blanc.

Gary Owens (yeah the Laugh-in guy with his finger in his ear) who did the voice of Space Ghost

 

Wally Cox..."There's no need to fear..Underdog is here."

 

Don Adams..the unforgetable voice of Tennessee Tuxedo (admit your age if you remember this one) and Inspector Gadget.

 

And my all time favorite DJ....Wolfman Jack!!!!!
