Why were starters in 3rd quarter while being up 35-0?

 

Don't know for sure but quite often, starters will play at least one series of the second half in a blowout in order to get used to coming out after halftime ready to play. During the playoff run, T's starters will have to play second halves. I thought T's reserves acquitted themselves quite nicely last night, on both sides of the ball.....maybe the best all year.

If they did play in the third quarter, it was not for long. Trinity substituted in their second and third teams early in the second half.

I haven't honestly left Lexington to see a game in the past 5 years. They're not the most talented team I've seen but they way execute is a privilege to watch.

Rocks are clicking on all cylinders it appears. At one point, Lafayette had 37 yards total offense on 37 plays. Then the 2nd string came in.

Maybe because it's the final week of the regular season and the starters need more than a half of reps heading into the playoffs.

 

I don't blame any coach who thinks his team has a shot in the playoffs for keep players in for three quarters. You rest them in the fourth!

I'm not trying to rub it in... I'm trying to understand if the outcome of this game was a surprise for you? Is Lafayette not as good as you thought, or was Trinity better? This is the second week in a row fans were predicting Trinity would lose to a Lexington team.

 

Should it be a suprise? Lafayette has to adhere to boundries while Trinity can have whoever they want. Lafayette or any Lexington school should never beat Trinity.

If you did away with Dunbar's coaches and added their players to Henry Clay's team or Lexington Catholic's team then you'd have a match. Perhaps the Lexington Private Schools aren't as advanced as the Louisville Private Schools. I tell you what let's just set up concrete districts for everyone and play it out....
